      Hi Sinny,

First, CCA is not compulsory in Primary school though it is encouraged.
Some of my daughter’s classmates stopped going to CCA entirely when they were
      overwhelmed by their workload.

Second, I think most parents have it wrong. CCA is meant to get the children to develop
an interest in sports/activities, and a chance for the children to socialise outside the classroom environment.
It is not meant as a mean to get into the parents’ desired Secondary school.

So please stop thinking whether CCA is important or not. Rather, sit down with your child and
discuss which CCA interests him the most and let him enjoy himself.

PS. unfortunately, some popular CCA, such as badminton, have restricted participation. Your child will be assessed for his potential during the CCA selection exercise.

I don’t think MOE make CCA compulsory for primary schools.

However, need to confirm with school whether they made it compulsory or not.

But like I said, DD had some classmates who stopped going to CCA entirely, and
their CCA group never looked them up. So I don’t think it is absolutely critical to have
                a CCA.

I could be wrong…maybe can find out during year end PTM?

Yes, MOE does not make CCA compulsory in primary school but I cant remember where I read before that our school makes it compulsory fr P4 onwards. So all the students need to register for one online and for my son, the teacher checked to make sure all the students in his class had registered. But I guess if the student subsequently don't attend, no one will bother.

Heard 4 buses were chartered. Plus those who went by themselves.
