I was a little too playful in sec 2 and I got 59 for math. But the school's requirement was 60. Even though I appealed, the outcome was still the same. I would like to pursue engineering when I go to uni and h2 math is a must.ParkYuni:
May I know what your reason is for not taking A math in O levels but wish to pursue H2 math in JC?
From my friend's DD's experience, it's not possible to take H2 maths in NYJC if you do not take or fail A maths in O levels. In fact, you will not qualify for Science stream in any JC if you do not do A maths.
FYI, NYJC has a very small group of pupils doing H1 maths and it is quite demoralising for friend's DD to be one of the odd ones. -

It might help if you have mastered the Amath syllabus well But can't guarantee the outcome will be in ur favor (coz alot of the H2 Math will be an extended and much more in-depth syllabus from the Amath syllabus, and year on year may be challenging even for those who cleared Amath)Liangbrolovesoccer:

I would suggest dat the best way is to send in an direct email to the college ... (at [email protected]) and see how the college evaluate on this. (re-taking the relevant O level papers may be a compromise for certain subjects If i rmb correctly ......but not sure whtr those regulations applies here or have changed since..)

I tried my best to appeal. But now ppl are dropping a maths because they cannot handle it and here I am being saddened by the fact that I could have taken it and managed it well. I just hope to get h2 math and achieve my only dream.

The principal may have changed, but the overall structure of NYJC still remains.
What’s most important is the teachers in NYJC. The teachers are the ones who teach your DD/DS (direct impact). So, the change of principal shouldn’t bring much of a worry. In fact, we should embrace all principals and give them a chance to showcase their abilities. We should not look at their background and cast unnecessary opinions (usually to fire down). I think that is not only being discouraging but also shows a lack of insight in things. -

Manjusri Secondary School has students coming from both affiliated and non-affiliated schools. I really doubt the 2nd sentence (which means the entire statement is not worth reading) because the COP of the school dropped since 2013 (205 to 196). Mr Kwek has led nyjc for the past 10 years hence there is no ground for comparison between the 2 principals' leadership styles. Aren't you concerned at all if your DC joins nyjc next year with a new principal? Are you suggesting that the nyjc teachers will lead the new principal instead? What if the teachers decide to take a breather from the old system? Singaporeans are practical you know. We won't reject a more relaxed environment.
