Maybe can set yourself a realistic expectations (perhaps a range) first so that when you receive results, your emotions are more in check? I know it's nerve-wrecking especially the waiting moments but with something being expected realistically, emotions are better controlled?
My DD is more paranoid than you, she starts telling me that she thinks she will fail......I just rolled my eyes at her.... -

I think only a small no. of kids fail every yr and I'm quite sure your dd does not fall into that cat.

our kids are really pitiful. at 11+/12 years old, they are already put in a pressure cooker and there are more exams to come. this 3 digits should not decide their future but where they go after psle affects their morale. -
I am very disheartened by my girl’s behaviour 2 days ago.
Knowing she had received the Secondary school selection booklet, I suggested that we go through them and maybe plan which schools we can opt with different T-score scenarios and what schools she had in mind but she just ran away and didn’t want to talk about it and saying she wanted to go to bed . I had also wanted to ask if she would be interested in any of the coming open houses but she didn’t seem to be interested.
Sometimes, I wonder if our children appreciate our time and effort spent on them. For the past 2 months, I tried to come home early from work so that I could spend time with her on the preparation for PSLE and even sacrifice my whole sundays with her going through past year’s school exam papers. Her younger sister even complained that she felt neglected during the past months. -

i suspect your daughter could be stressed thinking of her psle results and as such, not willing to discuss secondary school and t score scenarios...because my hubby wanted to do the same and i didn't want to think of it too.I am very disheartened by my girl's behaviour 2 days ago.

I think maybe sometimes we expect too much maturity from them? 一切平常心。Results wise, the die has been cast after each paper, truly no point worrying. I gave ds my assessment after his papers - what I thought of his level of preparation, where I felt he could have improved in his preparation, and what I was pleased with. Then we prepared gifts for his teachers to thank them for their time and efforts in the run-up to PSLE. Because honestly, what is the worst that can happen? Retaking psle is nothing compared to the really bad things in life.
I fear that kids these days have lost perspective of what "bad" is. Earlier in another thread, I asked about how common self harming is. Recently, I overheard a conversation among his peers and they were talking about how "there is always a way out" - i.e. out the window and end your troubles. They were talking in world weary tones as though they have the burden of the world on their shoulders! My goodness!! Psle is hardship?? I so wanted to clobber their heads together! But maybe the weight of expectations that they feel they cannot fulfill is the worst thing they know? -

I think it's only natural. Some of them are very stressed by it and worried about the results. They would rather not think about it. I think for some of them they don't want to look at schools that they may not be able to get into so they would rather see the results first. For us, we want to be practical so that we don't have to rush around so much when the results come out.I am very disheartened by my girl's behaviour 2 days ago.

Maybe try asking her what is important to her then do some research yourself. My daughter is determined to do photography CCA so I am searching out some schools for her in different T-score ranges. -

Honestly, I wouldn't want to think about it too but considering that after release of results, we have only 1 week to submit our options, I thought if I could possibly know/find out what she wants (eg. what kind of CCA each school offers and what CCA she would like to take) and help to shortlist a few schools so that it would be easier to decide when the results come. Anyway, after getting this indifferent \"bo chiap\" response from her, you have this \"why we as parent even bother\" kind of feeling. 皇上不急太监急 !
