      Hi all

I notice MOE website doesn’t categorise the schools offering what type of DSA. I’m considering schools that offer dance as a DSA. Any idea if any other websites have such info?

I don’t think there is any straight forward way of finding out which sch offers dance as an DSA option. The only way is to go to MOE’s SIS website, filter to schools offering dance as CCA then go to individual school website to see if dance can be a DSA option. Having said that, schools DSA exercise have ended by now so you can’t find that info readily, the only way is to wait till next April/May period.

If I don’t remember wrongly, here are a few TOP schools with dance DSA:
        - SOTA (of course!!)
        - SCGS
        - MGS
        - PLMGS
        - NYGH (Chinese Dance only)

          Hi,
I was one of the teacher-in-charge and also setter of the paper for one of the domains of DSA selection when I was teaching in RGS.

I know different school may have different types of DSA. The selection process may also differ from school to school.

As I suggest to my students in my Math DSA class, it is good for you to target a few schools that you are interested, and call their general office to find out the updated information.

There are some articles related to DSA in my website. You may read here.

            Hi Tutorchen,

Pls advise if a child gives up CCA's participation in P6, does it affect the whole DSA selection? For eg, if DSA English domain, will the panel look into the child whether he/she has CCA at P6? Thanks!

              Hi Ganjiongspider,

DSA seeks to promote holistic education and provide students an opportunity to demonstrate a more diverse range of achievements and talents in seeking admission to a secondary school.

If the student's English DSA selection test result is impressive and school results for other subjects are relatively good, he/she still has a good chance. If there is valid reason that why the student does not participate in CCA at P6, it will not affect his/her application. If there is no valide reason, it may affect the application.

              Hope it helps.

              Cheers!

[/quote]Reason being : want to better focus & totally concentrate for PSLE - is it a valid reason?
And what is the school mark range for subject domain (Eng, or Math) in order to be consider good? Eg. Is 85% & above acceptable? Or the selection criteria only look at 90% & above range?

                Thanks!

By mid year p6, schools would have stopped all CCA s and other non acad avtivities, and the rest of the time will be spent on revision and drills. Based on my DD1 experience this year, it was really dry towards the second half of the year.

So if there is a chance to let the kids enjoy their non academic activities during the first half of the year, please do so. Afterall, its a holistic experience for them. The kids should remember their primary school education as being fun when they look back.

                    Hi Tutorchen,

                    Hi Ganjiong spider,

I do not think it would be accepted as a valid reason. 😞

Result wise, school mark as 85% and above is a minimum criteria. If have good competition result, i.e. gold medal, would be even better.
Also need to get at least top 20-30 in the DSA selection test, to get an invitation for interview.

                    Good luck!

My kids did not join any CCA. CCA not compulsory in their primary school.

Submitted other credentials eg. competitions awards/medals, music cert, volunteer work, school projects, etc. Both via academic domain.
