I know of a parent whose child is currently on LTVP, and was not allocated a slot in a Primary School. What advice can I give the parent?

The parent's options are:
1. International or private school
2. Home school
3. Return to the country that they came from -
Hi,
May I know if I can register my kid during the Phase 2A2, but withdraw and register with another nearby school during the Phase 2C if I see that my chances are good…?
Reason I ask is cuz my hubby’s alma mater is Chongfu in Yishun but we stay in Bishan. Hoping to get into a school nearby…e.g. Peichun, Kuo Chuan which still have to ballot from historical records… but maybe we might take the chance.
What other alternatives would you suggest?
Pei Chun balloting history seems to ease up in recent years. Why is that so? Is it because they are moving… or no particular reasons…? -

Kuo Chuan - usually balloting for SC within 1km to 2km
I would say your odds are pretty even for both schools.
Pei Chun issue is mainly geographic/demographic. The school is located in an old estate which haven't seen a lot of renewal (apart from a small number of new flats / condos over at CHIJ TP side). As a result, there is a gradual fall-off in terms of popularity as the numbers gets spread around the few popular schools (Maris, Kheng Cheng, SAS, CHIJ TP). -
What are the chances of getting into Alexandra primary for a child who is born on 1 Jan 2013 but have to attend the earlier batch (i.e. 2012) ? Staying within 1km. Thanks.

Birthday doesn't really matter. Hence, same chance as the rest who's staying within 1km. Given the rising popularity of Alexandra Pri, that is a near certainty of balloting within 1km. -

there are quite a few schools under 1.5K a month, like invictum

Alexandra primary within 1km…confirm have to ballot.
Now those born 2 Jan also register with those born the year before.
Looks like the other options will be zhangde, gan eng seng, chij kellock. -
Any one staying in the west looking at Frontier primary or Jurong West Primary School? I am staying within 1km for this 2 school but this 2 school are equally popular. Meaning if I apply for Frontier then if unable to get in, I don’t think I have the chance for phase 2C for Jurong Primary and vice versa.
Looking at the statistic provided by Kiasu parents, last year there are no balloting required for SC within 1km. But birth rate for 2011 is definitely more than those born in 2010. Every mummy I talk to told me SC within 1KM no problem de la! BUT previously there are still balloting history…unsettling and worrying for me! Any advises from West mummies?
