mum217:
Thank u MMM! So this probably means that if she does very well for maths and science in sec 2, altho her overall average (less than 75%) is pulled down by d & t and fce, she should still be able to have a good chance to get to do triple science and a maths in sec 3?
Yes those 2 subjects will form part of overall average score. For triple science and a math, you just have to make sure she excel in those subjects.MMM:
Hi, I was wondering, for sec 2 streaming, will the school take into account D & T and Food and consumer Ed into the overall average?
Both of these subjects are not my dd's fav. So u can quite imagine her marks
I'm just afraid it might affect her chance if she wants to aim to take triple science and A maths in sec 3.
Any advice would be very appreciated. MTIA.
Apologies for my 'sotong-ness'
Yes. There is still a chance so long as her average are not way off and she can do very well for math and science. Eg last year math paper was very tough so a lot of their scores were being pulled down where some just managed to scrape through or failed. So you can imagine the average score. But dd has friends who managed to appeal to triple 8. Don't worry, their basic offering is also very decent. -
Thank u again MMM. Your reply gives me a much clearer picture. Very helpful info. :thankyou:

Hi
very interested to find out more
1. Is CGS very academic driven- can a kid catch up if they are likely scoring 230 in PSLE?
2. Who is the current Choir Conductor?
3. Is it tough to get into MEP?
Thanks -

Did your girl meet the COP for the previous years? She took her Os in 2013, means she is the 2010 batch, her tscore was higher than 2009 cop?Blue Pearl:
Please share the culture of this school, teachers (how far they can go in helping the girls) and most of all homework - is there alot that the gals cannot cope. Thank you.
My DD studied at CGS as one of the last entrant at Cut off T-score and took O-level in 2013. Never regretted that decision as those 4 years prepared her for life. After 2 years in CJC , she got in NUS.
Big thank you to all Teachers who nurtured strengths and worked on weakness to grow confident adult -
Hi can anyone share information on the past o levels results of crescent girls?
like how many students gotten 6A1 and 7A1 etc
my gal has shortlisted Crescent girls as one of her choices still contemplating whether to stay in IJ TP -
Hi also may I ask does the school offer only pure science and double math?
How about higher Mt?
Thanks in advance -
Hi CGS’s parent,
I missed the CGS open house, just to check few things:
1. What are the school start and end timing?
2. If my daughter psle score 246, do you think she able to catch up? I suppose most student will score 250 and above.
Many thanks for your kind info. -
I do have a dd who is in Sec 4 next year. Will try to respond to a couple of questions that parents posed.
CGS offer pure sciences, double math and higher MT. They don’t offer combined science from Sec 3.
School starts at 7.20am. End time will depend on individual’s activities.
In terms of O levels performance, I recalled historically around 60% of the cohort did 6 A1s & above.
In terms of PSLE score and their ability to do well. I think it all voice down to individual motivation. Girls are generally self-driven and most peers are like minded, it drive them to behave in the same manner. Of course, there are some that might not be self-driven so their results suffer. This is despite them doing well for their PSLE.
CGS in general is a very vibrant environment. My dd related to me that one of her peers was shouting out her name to get her attention when they went to some JC cca open house recently. I told her that is very crescentian. So she was like… true… we will shout from level 3 to downstairs, across canteen and parade square… I am not implying that they are loud but rather, it’s a very open culture and the girls are generally the well behaved type at the same time. So yes no regrets for us and in fact it was the best thing that happened for her. -
Hi
Its that time of the year again. Finally is my turn.
I’m planning to have CGS as one of the top choice for my DD.
But I live in Woodlands.
Is it too far?
Thanks in advance … -
Thanks MMM!
my DD has decided to place CGS as her first choice
