Hello parents! I am a recent graduate from the class of 2015 and I'm happy to answer any of your queries about my dear school
I am a proud graduate of MCS and it's heartwarming to see eager new parents come along
Hi
I am thinking of enrolling my 2012 and 2015 girls into this school
Kindly advise the pros and cons of this school as I realised that the in take is really Low, is there any reason for being so?
Cheers

Congrats on becoming part of the MCS family!Hi,
My dd got accepted at Marymount Convent. Our problem is that the bus provider does not have a service with a route that includes our place.
Do you happen to know any 3rd party bus service providers that we can check?
thanks
Unfortunately, I think there's only 1 bus service provider (as fas as I know, I may be wrong though). I know some parents have engaged cabs on a long term basis.. So you might want to check with your class's parent's whatsapp chat groups? -

Hi Jade!Hi parents of Marymount convent
May I know how's this school cos I am thinking of putting my gal who born in 2012 and 2015 into this school
Seeking your feedback
Cheers
We share a similar nick!
My DD is currently in MCS, and it's really a very good school. The low take-up rate (from locals) comes because it is a girl's school with zero affiliation for secondary admission. Also, it's perched on a hill, in a low density residential area. Guess that's the reason why?
However, the school is excellent in its emphasis on character development and opportunities for the girls in CCA, leadership etc. The homework is definitely no walk in the park - the teachers are very serious about academics and the honeymoon year is likely P1, I guess! In fact, my DD's Chinese Language tutor was telling me that MCS's Chinese lessons were faster and deeper in depth as compared to her tutees from SAP schools.
Because of the average take-up rate by locals, my DD has had friends from Philippines, China, Japan, USA, and even Germany! The ease of entrance and availability of space for foreigners allows my DD to have a taste and understanding of different cultures. It definitely makes her school experience not a typical one.
Living in an increasingly cosmopolitan world and the need for Singaporeans to broaden our perspective beyond our shores, I like to think MCS girls start right from the age of 7.

Hi Jade
Oh yes!!!
Thank you for the detailed explanation!!!
Thank you for the assurance as I was still thinking should I send to better school like chij TPY or Peichun but I keep telling myself that donโt stress myself which indirectly stressing my gals for better result in order to be more competitive in school
I try not to be a KS parent but my friends are sending to top school which kinda make me think whether am I right or wrong
Top school or MCSโฆ

Hmmm, I would say if there's a chance to go IJ TP, then it'll be good, cos there'll be the affiliation to secondary school, which comes in really important since the stress of PSLE may generate results unexpected, so it's always good to have a cushion just in case.Hi Jade

Peichun is a SAP school, if I remember correctly, which means they'll be emphasizing on Chinese quite a bit. My son is also in a SAP school, and I do think that it helps especially cos of the depth of immersion in the language.
I would say if you qualify for admission via earlier phases, like alumni or church etc, why not give it a try? Generally, admission to marymount is safe at phase 2C, though since yours is a 2012 baby, so it can be quite a different story then.

Thank you for the breakdown!

I stayed 1-2km to both CHIJ TPY and Peichun so need to ballot if thereโs still balance slot which I know that even I do not get a place there, I can fall back on MCS but I donโt know whether do I want to be so competitive to compete to get into the top schools
On 1 hand, I want to be in good school but on the other, I am afraid to stress my gals given such competitive environment. I want them to be happy and not just about study
But again study is for their future, not easy to strike a balance -
