      Do all P3 students go to the screening?

      At P3, all students in Sgp are invited to go for the GEP screening - Round 1 in August, Round 2 in October if they clear Round 1.

      Both rounds are optional - I think I remember that parents need to sign a consent form to let the kids take the screening/ selection.

        Zappy:
        There are only HA & MA classes, no classes labelled as LA.

        GEP/ Meta students are selected purely based on the P3 GEP test results, not through the school exam streaming. Those who did not get into the GEP classes but placed high on the MOE GEP screening results may be offered the Meta option by the school.

        thThis is separate from HA or MA (streamed through school exam results), so yes, MA students can go to Meta classes, just like they can go to GEP classes if they clear the selection and screening.
        Thank you :thankyou:

          zappy,

          thanks...do most parents opt to let their kids participate? What are the benefits of being GEP student? Cos end of the day also take PSLE ?

            Think that benefits question is probably more suitable to be discussed in the GEP threads.

            But for the school, I think all or almost all will go through the screening annually. I've only heard of 1-2 who don't participate. There's really no pressure from the teachers or school - it's purely up to the kid/ parents to decide if they want to go through the screening.

              No, META class remains at 2.

              However, instead of 60 students in previous years,
              there will be 70 META students for 2017.

              Thanks BigDevil! :thankyou:

                Dear experienced Nanyang parents, some help here. Any ideas which are the HA classes in P3 next year and if there is a LA class? DS asking and while i can hazard a guess, looking for confirmation. ๐Ÿ™‚
                Don't know about P3 since my boy is going P4 next year.
                Just look for the top 5 students of each P2 class and see which
                classes they ended up in P3. Those would be the HA classes.

                  Will P3 and P4 students together in same class for both years? Or split again after P3?

                      P1-> 2 : Stay together
                      P2-> 3 : Split
                      P3-> 4 : Split
                      P4-> 5 : Split
                      P5-> 6 : Stay together

                      At least for 2014->2015, P3s largely stay together when they move to P4 (some classes combined due to some movement of students to gep or meta classes). So it was

                      P1-> 2 : Stay together
                      P2-> 3 : Split
                      P3-> 4 : Stay together (largely, some classes combined as some students move to GEP/Meta)
                      P4-> 5 : Split
                      P5-> 6 : Stay together

                      Not sure if it will be the same this year.
