School Of The Arts, Singapore

Dear wahwah,
When I was in Year 1 there were definitely some classes that did academically better but there were also big differences in the PSLE T-scores of the students in many, if not all of the classes, as well as varying populations and proportions in different art forms. This seems to suggest that the allocation of classes is purely random or with minimal interference.
However, it is pretty impossible to know because even upper year classes seem to be chosen randomly as many students have to move classes. Many students in these classes don’t have the same subject combination and tend to ‘migrate’ around the school a lot for other classes. -

Thanks for sharing. I was just curious because some classes have more (like 27 pupils), while others have 22 or 23. -

In my dd's year, I think there is about 6 voice students (performance track) out of about 30 music student intake. May vary from year to year.Dear rstkiki,
Thank you very much for your reply. My son just started vocal lessons. The school doesn't offer exams. Another school offers Trinity Rock and Pop exams which is not classical. I didn't want to waste time and money on exams that are not recognized. However, it is reassuring to know that formal exams are not prerequisites. Appreciate your reply. By the way, do you know how many Voice students are accepted each year? -
Dear rstkiki,
Thank you very much for your reply. -
Called MOELC and confirmed the venue.
Thanks !
Hi,
May I know if anyone here going to register for Malay as 3rd Language on 30 Dec? From the MOELC website, the registration is done at either Bishan or Newton. However, SOTA’s email stated Zhonghua Secondary School. Can anyone advise?
Thanks in advance! -
Hi,
Any Yr 1 parent received text from the uniform vendor to collect uniform? It’s already Friday and there’s no update from them. Tried calling them a couple of times but no one answers. Anyone managed to buy uniform from their retail shop at Geylang? -
Just came back from their shop at Geylang. Have managed to get the outstanding items since our order in mid Dec except for the polo T for girls. They say no stocks cos shipment delayed. Have to wait until school opens. In the meantime can wear pe shirt to school.
The shop is quite hidden on the second floor, above this shop called Holi Dept Store. Alight at Aljunied MRT and walk along Geylang Lor 25A. Its at the left turn along Geylang Road. The shop is open tmr. -
Hi ImMeeMee,
Thanks for sharing. Do you know if all sizes for polo T no stock? Or only certain sizes? I was told by another parent they sent out another text to parents on 26/12 to notify parents of uniform collection. -

As far as I know, girls polo T size 34 and 36 are out of stock. Boys polo T size 34 were available when I saw them at the shop just now. The rest of the sizes I dunno. Please note to check whether the polo is for boys or girls. Girls' collar is rounded while boys' collar is sharp. I nearly took the wrong ones for DD.Hi ImMeeMee,

For us, the text that we received after Xmas was for collection of PE shorts and skirts. We placed order for these during mid Dec registration cos they were out of stocks too. -
Thanks ImMeeMee
