Nan Chiau High School

I agree with both Liangbrolovesoccer and gnihs on the need of setting a requirement to continue HCL. The school is strict, but reasons are indeed true! I don’t see the point of forcing children to continue on what they are not really willing to do, or are too far to be attained. For average students, other subjects are equally not easy to be well managed for distinctions. Some may be strong in Science or in Humanities, and the burden to work on other weaker subjects is still there. Adding another subject that he or she is weak in will only serve as a distraction.
And btw @sushigal Nan Chiau High’s English standard is not that bad compared to some other schools. I have seen quite a number of Nan Chiau students having a very good control of English when I worked as a JC tutor a few years back, which quite surprised me at first. Even the worst I have seen only require more practice to get used to the language styles at JC level. So I just feel we should’t judge about the students’ language standard base on what is at the surface. -
Anyone knows where can i buy the PE Attire out of school? Or who is the supplier for the PE Attire?

This school has a lot of PRC students, so it is actually to their advantage since they emphasize so much on HCL. On the 1st day of school, my friend’s daughter’s form teacher already told them:"I assume that your Chinese is very good since you are qualified to come to this school." She too commented that teachers keep reminding that Chinese is very important.

Huh? Thought MOE reduced the intake of PRC students into our education system already… tho the last time I went there to take a look the students there replied only a few of their peers are non-ASEAN.
Actually this should’t be a big issue bah coz is a common problem across many top tier schools. Anw we must also take note that not all PRC and ASEAN scholars and international students are posted into top tier schools, more competition are coming from neighbourhood schools in recent years. See those taking C Lit in JC, nearly half of them are non-SAP students (my son took CLEP (or isit LEPC) in his A Level and this was what he told me last time). So perhaps we should encourage our boys and girls to try and learn more from them, like how dey study and tackle certain subjects etc. -

I think you are putting a wrong image of the school. The school does not have a lot PRCs and while the school emphasize alot on Chinese, all other languages and subjects are equally important. -
