Don't you worry there... No misunderstanding whatsoever..
At least for me. I got what you meant.

As from an educator's point of view, its okay for feedbacks.
As long valid and constructive ones that can promote good
positive change. If the parent was not assertive enuf, the
other children within the centre may not enjoy the positive
improvements happening in the centre. So, thanks to her..
the other parents have a voice!

Like mentioned before, lets not do to others, what we don't
want others to do to us.. if it were us say.... at work...
We wud welcome a constructive feedback from the boss
(ie. \"Do you think you cud look into this cos i from what I've
checked, its already overdue..\") more than a complain (ie.\"Eh,
somebody complain that this is way overdue!\"

As long as feedback doesn't sound impossibly rude and
ridiculous, i think its fine..

Another busy period in the office thus the slow slow reply from me Hope everything is well with u .

Personally, i prefer the younger kids classes. Children more cute and
innocent. And we can really see their improvement from cannot talk
to can talk non-stop, from cannot hold pencil to can write neatly and
colour inside the lines, etc. Not to mention, nice to huggie wuggie too!

I'm glad to hear that..cos I hope it is not a norm for the supervisors to put teachers who performed badly in the younger children's class. It will be more worse as the kiddos are unable to say what they want. Honestly, even now, my boy is able to speak fluently, I don't really believe totally what he said..cos he will often tell me :\" Teacher beat me\" I'll take it w a pinch of salt (cos my boy occasionally doesn't say e truth)..just keep my fingers cross that the teacher, if really beat him, is becos of disciplining purpose & not due to rage.

If you reali need to speak to the teacher privately, do speak to the centre
manager or supervisor, so they can cover the teacher's duties during say
dismissal hours so you cud catch up with the teacher on your issues.

Sometimes, there are stuff to be said which are not enuf just to be written
in the communication book.

Heheh...now its e down period..whereby u see me replying to your post at this time of the day..hee..else i'll drag the reply for a few days at least. So where hv u been? Seldom see ur posts on the thread..always on e lookout for your post cos they are always so informative and gd reading.

I enjoyed reading the posts u shared on Maths as I ran out of ideas to introduce Maths to my boy beside using his fave toy (car) to show him the concept of addition and subtraction..so far, he can understand the concept of one..but I wanted to have more variety..else not only boring to the boy but to the mum as well..hee..u got any suggestions?

Its rather diff to speak to my boy's teacher..cos we are always late for class blame it on mummy & dilly dally boy..heheh..even the teacher asked us whether we can be earlier for class However, the only time when I can speak to her f2f is when i popped by during lunch time (rarely though) to 'spot check' on what my boy is doing. Glad to say, the other time when i did so, i saw my boy being properly dressed (in PJ and socks but with his diapers this time, since he cannot hold his urine in sch during naps..he is able to do so at home though ) so at least I'm rest assured that my feedback was taken seriously.

btw, wanna ask u..what is the average age for kids to read & understand instructions on the worksheets and able to follow/do it correctly?

If he's understood one concept (in this case i think you meant addition),
just zoom in on that first oso can... Spread the addition out to - Number
Bonds. Eh, your boy in N2 only right?

When they can read sometimes they just read but dun quite get whats
being asked. Practise make perfect. The more assessments you do with
him, the more exposed he is to different natures of instructions,
understand and slowly will do it correctly.. Usually by end N2 or K1,
when they can read or starting to read nicely, can start to get fun activity
books to do together. I'll put up some pictures of nice activity books you
can get from the regular bookstores ok. Playing educational CD-rom
games can also divert the learning thru play to ease the boredom of
sitting-down-pencil activities.

Here are some great titles.. for boys.

(Bob Builds A Park), Jay Jay Earns His Wings, The Wiggles Wiggly Party, Crayola's Amazing Animals.

thks for your reply. Honestly, I couldn't tell the diff between the two ..hahah..so definitely, I'm no average kid.. worse than one i guess..hahaha..

Hmm..guess what i meant was around how old, a kid is able to read & understand instructions on a worksheet and able to do it correctly according to the instructions given?

My boy is able to read & understand the instructions but when it comes to following it, he chose to do it his way. He can be really stubborn at times and indeed tirring for us as well..cos we are always making him see the point that when it comes to following instructions, u hv to do so, else no point if u understand or know the answers. Do u face this prob with your kiddos? Btw..pardon me, cos I don't know how many kiddo(s) u hv.
