The school is good. Academically, it was all above average for last year’s PSLE. For CCA, you can choose almost whatever you like, other than choir, dance(I’m quite sure that’s all) Others are all first come first serve basis, at least for my year(for bb and some others, you may not be able to take part in competitions if you do not meet the grade, but you still get to learn!) The teachers are all mostly very nice and caring. I really enjoyed the 6 years I had spent there(I miss it so much now OMG)

For the name tag, they have changed it so diff batch diff colour. Also tables will be rearranged by teacher regularly/termly, it’s not fixed(I doubt any school has their table settings fixed.) P1 classrooms are on level 2, P2/3 and some P4 are on level 3 and the rest of the P4/5/6 classes are on the 4th level. There are some classes on the first level, for classes with pupils that have walking difficulties/ just random if none that year. Also, how is the canteen not wonderful? The secondary school I am at now is somewhat known for its good canteen, but I prefer Kheng Cheng’s canteen lol. Also, there wasn’t really a lot of catch up at P4, there was a significant increase in work, but I didn’t feel it was unmanageable. Also, how was there so much supp class at P5/P6 that we were burnt out? Not at all(ok except the time our teacher panicked because of certain reasons, our fault really, and gave us 1 revision paper per day for 3 days straight.) The catching up part and not pushing enough at P1/2 part is pretty much false, for me at least(There’s a reason for the over-average results this school produces too). Btw, I’m not trying to offend anyone, but anyone that thinks whoever is burnt out at P5/6 because of the supp classes, check if it’s the supp classes or tuition. I personally had no tuition(Hey, I still did well) and I had so much playtime, AT P6 lol.

Hi i am considering whether to register my child this year for P1 at Kheng Cheng. Can I know more information about the school - i know some good schools place emphasis on the top few classes in P5 and P6 only by assigning good teachers there. The rest are very much left on their own. On the other hand, i read in an earlier post from a parent of P1 child here that the homework is ‘too basic’ but that was few years back. Can parents with children at kheng cheng share more of how things are now? Is there an open house? Many thanks in advance.

Hallo, Kheng Cheng did v v well in last year’s PSLE. Highest 275, 274, 271. Quite a number with 25+, 259, 26+. Popular schools of choice are Hwa Chong, Nanyang, St Nicholas, Cedar, SJi, Zhong Hua, Chung Cheng High (main).

There’s 6 classes for P5/6. All are drilled according to their ability. No one is left on their own. Teachers are v hardworking and dedicated here and the kids mostly do not hv tuition. Even if they do, they go to the more economical tuition ctrs nearby. Many foreigners here as well : ) They hv a small cohort of 232-238 P6ers every year.

For sch wk, I wld say the difficulty level is gettg higher in this school esp from 2013 onwards. And hw will increase by ALOT from P5 onwards. Not much hw for P1-P3.

They dont do HMT till P5, children who does HMT hv band 1 in all P4 subjects. But it is an opt-in thing, not compulsory. Those doing MT hv even better MT grades than those doing HMT : ) And there are many here who choose not to do HMT. A number of children who is strong in Chinese are allowed to do HMT even if they are weaker in other subjects. I think it’s fine not to do HMT. Kids here still do HMT in sec sch anyways. Btw, malay students do v well here too.
