Hi, I'm a new parent to PHPPS. Attended the first day of school yesterday and heard the new principal's (Mdm Tan Quee Wah Elsie) presentation in the morning.

      Was quite disappointed actually.

In her presentation, while she enthusiastically identifies with the missionary background of the school (as she should or must), she fails to acknowledge that PHPPS is also one of only 15 primary schools to be accorded the SAP status and have a sacred mission to uphold a high standard of bilingual education.

The school has a distinguished 128 years of history since 1889. It was first and foremost a Chinese school when they switched from Teochew to Mandarin in 1918, named Pei Hwa 'cultivate chinese' in 1922, accorded SAP status in 1992, and tasked with the Chinese Arts Programme in 2009.

Concerned about how such a principal would lead such a school......
don't be too concerned about the principal. parents have to be involved to make sure their kids revise consistently.

        Hihi...
i'm a new parent at PHPPS too. I'm not sure if one could tell if the P is a good P or not based on one speech. The point about PH being a SAP school has been strongly put across by the VP. Anything more I as a parent might get too stressed (my mandarin isn't that fantastic :?: ).

Hi, I’m a new parent to PHPPS. Any one can link me up to P3R?

May I know if every pupil will be given a locker to keep their textbook so that pupil do not have to bring too many books?

And if pupils are Non-Christian , may I know what is the time to be in sch? Do pupils need to attend devotions?

My dd graduated from PH last year.

She was given a locker but it was shared. So normally she would put non essential textbooks such as Health Education, Music books or even Art & Craft stuff inside.
All students must reach school by 7:20am. We are free thinkers and both my girls attended cell group during recess organized by the mummy volunteers.
My girls thoroughly enjoyed their days and time at PH and they were lucky to have met very devoted and caring teachers throughout their primary school years.

Hi! My girl is P6 this year at PHPPS. Lockers are for P4 to P6 unless the sch chg their systems. For kids who do not wish to attend devotions, they can report to sch by 7.20am ie before the National Anthem is sang. There will be Prefects stations at all the entrance gates to record latecomers names.

Please give the new P a chance to perform. She was formally Bt View Primany Sch. Most importantly, the teachers who teach your kids hv to be a "capable" teacher. Able to motivate kids and passionate to teach.

My personal opinion, Teachers are more important than P.

Will the pupils have the locker key to themselves or teacher kept the key n student has no access to it? And what if student wants to access? Or does that means there is no keys to the locker?

I asked my dd, she say devotion is sang after national anthem. Hence cannot come later. They switch the sequence. Any non-christian encounter this before?
