[Thanks Titank and qms.. I'm in Yishun [not Woodlands :)] and competition to get in the better ones is quite stiff, which makes it a hard decision to walk away from the near guaranteed spot in RMPS.. grateful for ur advice though.. thanks!

      Hi!

      Sorry, somehow I remembered wrongly.

Anyway, what you can do is to register with RMPS in P2B and monitor other schools near your house in P2C. If chances of getting into schools nearer to you are acceptable to you, you may withdraw your application with RMPS as register with the former.

But, frankly, after you put your child in RMPS, you may find a hard time justifying why your child should go through the long daily commute, imho.

            Hi Mummies!

This year we likely going to register for RMPS since my hubby have joined the alumni for P1 2018. I am just curious, the cca choices seems very limited. any feedback? Thanks

The school's niche CCAs are Chinese Orchestra and Chinese Dance. Not too much focus on other CCAs, though.

If you like your child to have exposure to a cca that is currently not offered by rmps then you will need to weigh all factors and decide whether the school is a good fit for your child. If there is no preference yet, why not let your child take the lead when the time comes. There are currently 16 cca to choose from. The school will hold a cca fair for P2 students after which the kids will indicate their preferences.

Looking at the school achievements for past years as posted on the school website, cca in various categories have performed well in national/zone competitions. More importantly your child should enjoy the cca and be able to acquire a skill or two.

That said, my child will only start his cca selection process later this year. I do not yet know how students are selected when demand exceeds supply but I do hope that the school will give all students a fair chance to develop themselves in their preferred cca.

The list of achievements includes sports that the school doesn't offer as CCAs. Those awards were possible because the students took private lessons and trained privately. You may like to take this into consideration whilst browsing through the list.

I understand it's by pure balloting. For the sports CCA that I am aware of, they no longer select by 'talents'.

Actually, the school can't offer too many CCAs. It needs to have a certain number of students to 'sustain' the CCAs. Some schools offer this CCA, while other schools offer that CCA. This is the same for all schools.

Hence, if you are concerned with the CCAs offered by this school, perhaps you may want to re-consider the decision to register your child with this school.
