can someone help me with this physics question. What is the characteristic of the image formed by the periscope with convex mirror on top and plane mirror at the bottom? http://i60.tinypic.com/2094s34.jpg\">

      Thanks
      Yes answer is A.

A convex mirror is used in seven-eleven to enable wide range of vision. The objects will look smaller. See it for your sell at any seven eleven store 🙂

These are the kinds of questions we go over with students during our September Holiday Program for End of Year Exam Revision (including IP) and O'Level Physics. I'm doing a lot of these problems with Sec 3 and Sec 4 students as well in our regular Physics tuition classes.

The answer is in two parts. For the first part, use a kinematics equation to solve for the initial velocity. We strongly recommend memorizing the 4 equations used for kinematics, as this is the fastest way of solving these kinds of problems.

For the second part, set the calculated kinetic energy = 95% of the actual kinetic energy. This needs to be done carefully. This little step at the end comes up in a lot of places in physics where efficiency is involved and it is important to think about the answer at the end. The actual initial velocity must be higher than the calculated initial velocity because energy was lost along the way.

            Hi all

May I know what could be possibly tested under “Waves” for SPA? :scratchhead:
What should the child take note and prepare for this topic?
            I would appreciate suggestion.
            Thank you very much.

              Hi,

Are you referring to the topic General Wave Properties as opposed to Light/Electromagnetic Waves? I don't teach Physics and it has been a couple of years since I did Physics SPA but I'll try to recall what I've done. 🙂

Hi, as far as I remember, what I had done before was doing SPA with sound waves for General Wave Properties. That being said, I was from an IP school and as such I don't think it's fair for me to speak for O Levels.

May I know what's your intention for finding out how Waves will be tested for Physics SPA?

                    Hi S Mummy,

SPA on general wave properties may test candidates' understanding of types of wave, like either longitudinal wave or transverse wave. Then assess the student's skills to find wavelength, speed, period and etc.

Must revise graphical representation of waves and the terminologies (e.g. frequency, period, wavelength, speed, amplitude, crest and tough and etc.).

                    Cheers!

Power up your future with high quality small group tuition.

regarding o level physics assessment books, which books should i get? The one from Math digest or the one from yellow reef (challenging drill questions and solutions ).

                      noted with thanks.

both. I think both are equally important
