Hi everyone, I have a girl born in 2012 and we have the option of applying for Pei Chun at Phase 2A1. But I feel it'd be a better if she goes to CHIJ Toa Payoh or CHIJ OLGC (which we stay >2km away) because we hardly speak mandarin at home. I was wondering if we can try registering at CHIJ OLGC at Phase 2B since we're Catholics or just stick to Pei Chun. Any remote idea of what our chances are like?

Also, how else (apart from this amazing platform) can we find out more about the primary schools since they don't usually hold open houses? Really really appreciate all feedback. Thank you.
how was your experience as an old girl in pei chun? did you enjoy your schooling years?

pei chun is a SAP school...i don't know if HCL starts at p1. my son was formerly in SAP school. we don't speak mandarin, so it was really challenging to coach him in HCL from p1 on top of the other subjects.
as such, we registered daughter in chij toa payoh under phase 2A.

if you're a catholic with the documents, i guess you may want to enquire if there is any balloting required for OLGC at Phase 2B. all the best.

Hi momomom, can I just find out what's your review on Pei Chun since your girl is an existing student.

Anxious mummy here as no affiliation with schools, rely solely on P2C. Would like to hear some advices.
Based on the ballot history of pei Chun
        2016 ballot 1-2km
        2015 ballot 1-2km
        2014 ballot less than 1km

What are the chances for dragon Year? Is it risky to take gamble in P2C?
Will there be increase intake for that year?

Hi there! I wasn't an old girl from Pei Chun, but my husband was, so that's why we can apply at phase 2A1. He was also from an English speaking family so taking Chinese at higher levels were challenging, but I don't think it can be compared to the standards now.

          Hi Janet88,

Thanks for your reply! Yes I believe Pei Chun starts HCL at primary 1 and I'm sure I don't want my daughter to struggle with HCL! I was actually from a different CHIJ, my husband is alumni of Pei Chun. Applying for my alma mater would be out of the question because we stay too far away. Hoping to get her into IJTP at first but it looks like our chances are slim. Eek.

I also have son who is two years younger, so it's really heartening to know parents who send their kids to different schools!

i don't know how catholic baptism works. does it mean that when one is a catholic, it will allow them to register at 2B for all catholic schools?
for my case, son is older and academic wise he is average. putting him in the SAP school was purely out of convenience as it is 5 minute walk to school. for daughter, she showed signs of being weak in CL in kindergarten. putting her in SAP school will be a nightmare for her. fortunately i am an old girl of IJTP.

Just want to make sure there is no misunderstanding.

Being an old boy only gets you into phase 2A2.
To be in 2A1, your husband needs to join the alumni association before 30 June 2017.

My boy is also a dragon bb…staying in Tampines.

We dont have any affliation so i tink tough luck with ST HILDA’S and PV timing is so unachievable for us 130pm to 430pm on weekdays!

We stay within 1 -2km and can try RED SWATISKA, YUNENG and Tampines Pri.
Not sure which would be a better chance for us? Or shd we try to move to 1km to try for ST HILDA or POI CHING… haiz
For Church st hilda, not sure how to get int oo? and if its too late

Red Swatiska, Yu Neng, St Hilda and (most likely) Poi Ching will all ballot within 1km. You probably don't stand a chance at all for 1-2km.

Tampines Primary should be bao jiak for you though. Therefore, it's best to go for that.

We are PR and live in Tampines. We live in 1KM distance of St. Hilda’s and Tampines primary school. Is there any chance that we can get into St. Hilda’s.

If SC beyond 1km already no chance at St Hilda, what chance do you think a PR has? In a Dragon year, Tampines Pri would be a risky bet for PR too. Best to look at schools like Junyuan, Tampines North or Yumin.
