I am also keen to know too. At P5, my boy is loaded with homework and extra classes.

Sometime the homework is rather boh liao (sorry for the words). Correction after correction because it is not according to the teacher's rigid way of doing. Cannot do short cuts even when speed is required. So for this, I will write in to request for later submission, as we value family interaction over the weekend. Some teachers will understand and agreed but 1 or 2 teachers will simply do not reply. :faint:

DS is done with his CA1 already. Some results are back. Math looks ok. English need some work especially on Compre Cloze and Compre OE

Problem with compre cloze is at times, I look at the answer that he has given and think it is acceptable but he was marked wrong. I am not sure how to explain to him so only thing I can do is to get him to ask his teacher why his answer is not acceptable. There were times when the teacher conceded a mark or 2 to him when he went to clarify with the teacher. Unfortunately, for PSLE, no such thing.

Mine is having CA1 next week.
Her English also cannot make it. This time i will focus on those easier to score section -
grammar, grammar cloze, systhsis and compre. For vocab, compre cloze...sigh.. hopefully the word is not so diffcult.

Having loads of hw before ca1 can be frustrating because there is no time to squeeze in revision. This will happen for prelims....teachers will dump past year exam paper after paper. Most of the time they are just marked by swapping with the classmate...mistakes are not explained and students make the same mistake when they encounter similar questions again.

June onwards, do monitor your kids for stress. Don't let them get burnt out.

For English, comprehension passages can be real tough...to the point of :siao: the real picture is psle...don't get overwhelmed by CA and SA.

This section is looking for the MOST suitable answer. So the students should read through the passage at least once and understand the main topic/ideas before attempting it. However, for some blanks, there are indeed a list of acceptable answers 🙂
