Best to check with SSP directly; I’m not too familiar with transfers.

      Academics depends on the course.
They have the usual 4 year O level course,
6 year IB Program and potentially a 7 year with a tie up with RP

They recently produced a President’s Scholar too,

My girl is in an IJ school P5 & she's planning to join SSS under netball.

Any idea how I should go about with the preparation? For example, apart from the exam results, what else is required?
Ive been reading the DSA threads but mostly threads are under DSA academics.

I am totally lost. Pls help. 🤷

FYI: Sports School's abbreviation is SSP (I think that's because SSS is more commonly known as St Stephen's School at the National Games)

For most sports, I can only assume that Sports School usually does it's \"talent spotting\" at national events, so inter-school games, as well as during the Trials Invitations (which could be given to potential P6 students during the national championship - that's how it was for my son).

Another route is to contact the school directly. In fact it is quite common for parents to enquire to the General Managers of each Sporting Academy. http://www.sportsschool.edu.sg/GeneralPageDetails.aspx?id=71

Finally, you could always bring your child down for the Open House, where there usually is a trials as well. But I only suggest doing that when she is in P6. I think this year's open house is not finalised yet... but keep checking the Sports School Website every other week to see if it's there.

Overall, I think exam results is not as important (unless she is doing badly in one particular subject). During one of the interviews, the person from the academics grilled my son about his borderline 2nd language...and indicated that he needed to buck up. Fortunately he improved to a B in the PSLE. If you were wondering, the cut off point for getting into IB should be a 230 PSLE score

Thank you so much @dlye for the info.

My girl got talent spotted last month during a match & was invited by the academy’s head coach to attend a trial. The head coach mentioned that it is ok for her to attend the trial with the current P6s despite being only in P5.

Hope this will motivate her to do better in both sports & her psle next yr.
              Wish us luck.

Hi, any idea how we can go to the selection trial for shooting? Do we have to register for it?

Did you missed their open house last Saturday? There were try-outs during the open house too.

My dd was being talent spotted during zonal & nationals. We've got the invitation for trial when she was in P5. This yr, we've got the the trial invitation again.
It will be different trial dates for different academy I think.

Hi J Herr, we were at the open house last Sat. There was a form for us to fill up but we didn’t submit as we did not have the P5 results. Guess I will have to contact the school to find out more.

A reminder will be send out to you a few days before the trial date. Just have to bring your child's P5 year wnd result on the 1st trial.
