Well, have to try our luck....Nothing is 100% confirmed at this point of time... we can only judge based on past stats.. From 2004 to 2009, no balloting under 2B was required. I remembered during my girl's registration, the admin guy told us sure no need to ballot one, but we were still very kan-cheong... as we can never be sure of grassroot leaders who may suddenly come in. End up there were 65 applicants for 70 places that year and we were so relieved.
But last year there were only 47 applicants for 67 places. I wonder if they reduced the PV intake.

We have the intention to stay near MGS (within 1 km) but afraid that might not get the chance to get in so I tried RGPS as well. How do you find MGS?Do u qualify under 2B or 2C for MGS? If 2B and stay within 1km, chances of getting in is very high. If 2C then maybe need to ballot even within 1km.
And yes, MGS is a good choice if u can get in, no need to worry about PSLE results so much. Thats why MGS is more popular than RGPS since the latter is not affliated to RGSS. -
Hi,
Have anyone submitted their PV application to Nan Chiau Primary for 2005 kids? I have sent in end of last yr and still didn't hear anything from
them. No news on their website. :?:
Tks! -

Have you tried to call the school? just note that PVs will be 'competing' against grassroots leaders AND SHHK members.Hi,

If I have a choice, I would select MGS over CHIJ TP…so much nearer and there is affiliated sec school. RGPS no need to ballot under Phase 2B but no affiliation to RGS.
sunshine_mummy,
I know that kind of stress you’re going through…even though you are told no need to ballot, you won’t know at the last min whether you have to compete with grassroot leaders and also those under religion/clan. -

MGS is a good school, with afflilation some more, so I think it is a good choice..

Maybe what u can do is to secure a place in RGPS under 2B first. During 2C u can gauge ur chances in MGS since u stay within 1km, and if balloting is not required or u deem urself to have a good chance, then u can withdraw from RGPS and register in MGS... -
Just wanna check, if by end June, one still have not manage to clock the minimum 40hrs (maybe about 30plus hrs), is the person still eligible for the Phase 2C PV balloting? If it is Yes/No, does this appply to all schools or dependable on individual school?

Phase 2C is open to all, no PV is required. If one has clocked the 40 hours, they move up to an earlier phase (2B).
Under 2C, (actually 2B also the same), distance is key. Spaces are given based on distance - balloting ONLY if there are more applicants than spaces in that DISTANCE category.
