Teach, Don't Demand, Success (from your child)

i read it.
it’s a pity some parents place unnecessary pressure on their kids. -

Agree. However, it's a fine line between healthy expectation and unnecessary pressure. Without the former, the child would not be able to realise his full potential. With the latter, it could lead to dire consequences (low self esteem, rebellion, poor parent-child relationship, and even suicide).i read it.

Guess it all boils down to knowing your child's strengths and weaknesses and accept them. Celebrate his/her uniqueness. Not everyone can be an 'Eistein'. The world needs all sorts of talents and giftings to make it a better place. It's a parent's role to help his child to find his 'niche' area and nurture it (just like the guy in the article who found his passion in cooking and runs 2 cafes).

Kids feel the stress to perform well, when they see that other kids in their class do better than they can. My kids know that as long as they have put in their best effort, I am pleased with whatever result they bring home to me. So far, things have been good. Sometimes, things don’t work out well, but we get over it together as a family quite quickly.

Same here. I think it's not healthy to impose to kids that they should be like this and that. I can see that my kid is learning even if it's not that fast like the rest of the classmates, but she's learning and most of all, enjoying. And I think that's the most important thing.
