Just to share - went MGS last Saturday for the open house for Dance . MGS will only pick 5 girls for DSA Dance. It’s not easy to be the lucky one. the gals will have to write a personal statement and one or two testimonials from teachers …

I feel for MGS SMSS SNGS SCGS hard as got affliated pri sch and allocation will be mainly their own pri gals? Correct me if I m wrong. At least from my other friends with experience in previous years it is like this. They probably talented spotted their own pri girls for DSA??

My gal is trying only SOTA dance since she wans but I am not really hopeful. Paid $3.5K for her DSA preparation. Friends with DD attending AQ dance, Dance Trilogy paid even more . Close to 15K no joke for my friend whose DD is in Dance Trilogy according to her huh. 3K plus i alr bleed like siao. At least the full-length photos and video are professionally taken with the ballet teacher corrections for the poses and during the dance video. Going to eat grass if DD does not get the coveted CO. My colleague DD enrolled in a 4K course for Theatre training. All money money money to enter SOTA.
Whoa! Some parents here are so rich!! $3K, $4K or $15K can stomach as long as it gives their kids a shot at their dream sch DSA.

What about those kids who are just as talented but parents not privileged to send heir kids for those courses? Doesn't this show that the DSA exercise further disadvantages the less privileged? Is this what DSA has turned into? A contest to see who can spend more resources in order to secure the limited seats?

First time that you found out about DSA?

Piano lessons, violin lessons, dance lessons... cost money.

Football academy, gymnastics team, swimming lessons... cost money.

Can any parents advise which gyms/coaches for artistic gymnastics who have a good track record for producing winners at school and national competitions?

My girl has been in a small private gym and she has shown potential, but her current gym is unable to provide adequate training for competitive gymnastics.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated, please PM me if not convenient to post here. Thanks.

5 is generous already. At another girl school, just 1 was selected.

Honestly I rather put the money in my own pocket to fund their tertiary education.

Ditto. Why bother with tuition, training etc. Just send them off to some 3rd rated overseas university also can. For all you know, they will be same same alumni as some of our foreign talent.
