This yr my kid no DSA yet but my friend told me national jc has removed all acad DSA from this yr. is it true?
I don't think the school wants to risk it by taking in one who is good in sports but not so strong academically. Scarely, the school is looking for students excellent in both sports & academic studies.

体育好、成绩好、 品德好
Yes, you are right. NJC would not risk by taking not so strong academically candidates to their IP programmme. Hence, school results is the main assessment for the applicants' academic excellence to even get into their 1st phrase for CCA trial & auditions. Except for Arts & Music talent, other CCAs are just like our school normal trial & audition. That is why they specify no past experience is required.[/quote]True, telling that NJC website also stated that the students will be accessed through a series of questions to determine whether they have the potential to cope with the academic rigor of IP together with the demands of CCA. -

Found it - page 379 of 2015 dsa thread. 2 years ago already implemented subject domain.
Someone told me rgs implemented it last year and this is the 2nd year. And SCGS DSA via one subject domain is something new this year.
So they are in line with MOE's direction, that is to remove GAT and no general academic domain (overall) by next year.
Anyway, come next year we will know if R schools will remove DSA via one subject domain (that is, no more academic domain). -

Doesn't matter whether it's implemented 2015 or 2016, right? I read page 379, didn't say much leh. Next year we will know whether this DSA academic route via subject domain will be removed entirely, like what your Whatsapp group claimed.

That parent didn't refer to Rgs. Hers is a boy
but it could be applicable to other IP schools too if that is the future direction.
And thus might be applicable to my friend's dd in p5. -

Requiring applicants to select a subject domain was already in place for non-GEP students applying to RGS in 2011, the year my daughter applied. Only GEP students had a "general academic" category. I guess it was the same for RI?

I spoke to the admission teachers in RGS last weekend and they told me that the DSA Acad is still in place, points to note is that no more GAT( but will have subject specific tests for chosen DSA Acad subject.)

Principal also mentioned that when subject chosen for DSA Acad should to be in the top % of the cohort to be shortlisted for 2nd round, also other subjects grades are also important.
For DSA sports, do note that not all sports are open for DSA even if its offered as a CCA.
RGS took out DSA golf this year -

Since 40% of RGS vacancies is filled by DSA, so can't be half the school all sports persons. As a premium girls school, I think it is very hard for them to do away with something academic. -
lee_yl:
To add the DSA %, parents were told this year DSA vacancies will down to 35% compared to last year(40%.-50%)

Hi!
Does anyone have info or experience on Hwa Chong Math Camp? Apparently this camp is for primary school students.
How is the selection done? In P5 or P6?
Thanks!
