I am not very experience but try to answer from what I understand. Both Elective and Enrichment modules are optional. You no need to take Elective or Enrichment module for promotion. Promotion depends on the Promotion CAP. If you think about minimum modular credit, that would be the total of all core modules plus mother tongue module.Hi, today is registration for enrichment modules for Yr 1. I'm quite confused. Any difference between elective and enrichment modules? In sem 1, my DS took Japanese as 3rd Lang and din do well. It seems his score pulled down his CAP. My concern is, is our deduction correction?
Second, my son is not interested in the current enrichment modules offered. I read that these are optional but I do see that they come with modular credits. Is minimum credits required to promote to Yr 2.
Third, DS is keen is Math Olympiad but in Sem 1, he chose Jap and decided not to take Math Olympiad to manage his workload. Now that he is going to drop Jap, he would like to take Math Olympiad. My question is, is MO open to all Yr 1 kids or they must sign up for the MO elective?
The modular system is new and confusing to me.
TIA!
If you take Elective module, the performance result will be included in the Promotion CAP calculation. Enrichment module will be graded with Distinction/Merit/Pass/Fail.
MO is open to all Y1 as an elective module during Y1 semester 1 module registration, semester 2 onward is by invitation based on the performance in the previous module.
All modules (including the Enrichment) have the modular credit. It is to show you how much work load for that module. -

Hi! Anyone has any idea what is the main difference between Math Olympiad elective taught by NUSH teachers and external vendor (the one with a \"v\" next to the module code). I know that those who did better are offered the module taught by school staff but is there any other major difference other than that?
I don't know the answer. Have you gotten the consent form? Is it need to pay a fee? -

Likewise for other Olympiads except BO. Please take a look at the \"List of Programmes of Studies and Modules Offered by Academic Departments\" at the school website before you decide what electives to take as what you take now will determine what you can take in future as many upper years electives have prerequisites. -

The 2 modules are basically the same and the difference is that one is more advanced and faster pace than the other and ends 1 semester earlier by year 3. There's no need to pay a fee.thgwee:

Then will the test papers be the same or each elective will be tested differently given that the pace is different.

Your son can still be invited to take the MO elective module if he performed well in the SMO.Hi, today is registration for enrichment modules for Yr 1. I'm quite confused. Is SMO also by invitation? DS did not go for SMO.

It isn't by invitation. According to my daughter, all of them in the class are encouraged to take SMO by their math teacher.
