Thanks ChiefKiasu for ur reply and also for the detailed analysis table!Piinkplatypus:
Hi parents, what are your takes on whether ATS will need balloting for phase 2B for <1km? Thanks!
Hard to tell at this point. But it will definitely be oversubscribed. -

I also came from a neighbourhood primary school. Currently my kid’s school is more 12km from my home. It’s still a hard work to wake up evey morning to send him to school, we also arrange someone to send him back. My kid, sleep during the car ride (everyday!) so to me, he wakes up the latest in school. Logistics is never easy but it depends on how your kid cope with it. I feel happier than the kids during school holidays as I also have sleep holidays!
It’s no harm to bring your kid along and get a feel of the school while you also can find out more if you visit the school.
We are about the same distance away. So Lexy, how do you arrange for transport in the pm? Schoolber? From what I understand, ATS does not provide bus transport to my side of the island. In any case, school bus is not my preferred option for such a long journey though my girl is perfectly happy taking the school bus to her kindy now. If confirm to go ahead with ATS, we will likely try out the daily commute first and if necessary, relocate. -
Hi Parents ,
Kindly share how is the chance to get a school in MaryMount in Phase 2C ?
Thank you for Sharing . -
Rishisusee:
Do you mean Marymount Convent? It's usually safe for all at Phase 2C, even for PRs.Hi Parents ,
Kindly share how is the chance to get a school in MaryMount in Phase 2C ?
Thank you for Sharing .
If you mean Marymount area (Bishan/Toa Payoh), then it depends on which school you are looking at. -
Rishisusee:
Confirmed place for everyone at that phase, so don't worry. And I heard it is a good school for girls. It is only at phase 2C(Supp) that it gets oversubscribed (some years).Hi Parents ,
Kindly share how is the chance to get a school in MaryMount in Phase 2C ?

ChiefKiasu:
The dynamics are different for different schools. ACS Primary, for instance, has quite a bit lesser Phase 2A(1) applicants compared to last year. CHJI SNGS, on the other hand, has a stronger Phase 2A(1). Maybe it depends on the groundswell of sentiment towards the schools at any given point of time.
Reading the 2A(1) analysis, will <1KM in Phase 2B stands good chance for ACS Primary? Thanks.
It's going to be a nail biting session for Phase 2A2 for some schools. I feel that the dynamics between 2A1 and 2A2 may have changed, with more applicants joining in at 2A1 instead of lucking it out at 2A2.floppy:
We have completed our analysis of Phase 2A(1). The data can be found https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/2017-p1-registration-phase-2a2-analysis-and-predictions/.

Veyron:
A very perceptive guess! :salute:The 30 months rule on home-school distant registration announced in 2015 could possibly have an impact on this year phase 2C registration. With less people moving out of the 1km radius, (due to 30 months rule), less people will be able to move in. And with the current poor economic outlook and depressing rental market, not make parents will dare to commit themselves on a min. 30 months lease for 2C.
Thats my guess anyway. -
hojicha:
Last year all the remaining places were taken up at phase 2A2, leaving only the 20 reserved places for phase 2B. This year there may be extras left to carry over to 2B and 2C.
Reading the 2A(1) analysis, will <1KM in Phase 2B stands good chance for ACS Primary? Thanks.
As to how many applicants <1km there will be at 2B? You can gauge by looking around your church if it's one of the bigger Methodist churches...how many 6 year old boys are living within 1km of the school? Last year I looked at the population of K2 boys studying at BRMCK, two-thirds of the class are boys vs girls, I already know Tiger year phenomenon won't apply to ACS applicants.
BUT ACSP is unique in that it all boils down to how many applicants need to stick it out for balloting and not switch over to ACSJ. Some addresses are not within 1km of both schools. Some people need the in-house after school care at ACSP. Some people have younger kids studying at BRMCK and need the convenience of same school compound. Ultimately, if you want to avoid balloting, you would be in a better position if you are able to switch over. Otherwise, assume there will be balloting at ACSP. Anyway, since you're <1km you can have another bite of the balloting cherry at 2C. -

Thank you for the insights! For 2B, church only allow parents named one school, thus parents can't switch at last hour regardless outcome. Will think hard on this. :nailbite:
