      Thanks for the reply.

I am actually contemplating between Teck Ghee (hub’s pri sch) & OLGC. 2 schools of totally different culture but equal dist. from my place. Hence, am looking for some opinions.

I'm assuming you have gotten a place in Teck Ghee under P2A2. Both schools are of similar standings, i.e. not top of the rankings but not too bad either. However, OLGC is affiliated to a secondary school and is an all-girls school. Thus:

If you have only daughter(s) - OLGC.
If you have boy(s) as well - Teck Ghee.

Hi, I’ve registered my DD in OLGC for 2018 P1. Hope to hear from parents whose DD will be in the same school next year! Looking forward to their orientation already!

              I have gotten a place OLGC. 😛

Wondering if anyone know why is there a pre-orientation when most schools only have an orientation in Nov.

When my daughter joined (which was 7 years ago!), they did a short reading and spelling test in the pre-orientation as well as asked questions about whether the child had attended pre-school, language spoken at home etc. You could also buy uniform and books on the day.

                  Thanks Black Belt.

Would they then put the kids into classes according to how well they perform in the reading & spelling test?

So far i have not heard of any other schools doing this pre-orientation thingy.

To be honest, I don’t know but I don’t think so. I think it is more to identify those who may need extra help when they start in P1. They also try to identify any children who didn’t attend kindergarten and recommend them for bridging programmes during Nov/Dec.

Hi! Anyone volunteered as Parent-Volunteer to get child enrolled into CHIJ OLGC? When does PV start? Is it a year before? I would really want to get to know the school through PV before making a decision.
