Once candidates receives CO, and some wld hv applied to several schools, the schools & other candidates will appreciate if CO recipients can decisively select their school of choice & inform other schools to release your COs which u DO NOT want asap. Only, I’m not certain it shld be done before 31 Aug or 30 Oct, as Option Forms to accept COs will be sent out after 31 Aug & closing date is 30 Oct.

These dates are all in sync with all schools under MOE system. So, depending on how fast admin works & how considerate those who received more than one COs release places/opportunities to others & schools are trying to work within the MOE framework to convert WL.

So, if School A offered 80 COs & 10 WL places but amongst 15 of their candidates received 2 or more COs fr other schools. If considerate & decisive parents inform School A immediately (before 31 Aug) that they’ve decided on School B, opportunity goes to next in line for WL.

Assuming 12 kind & decisive parents act fast to release places their DC will not need as they’ve replied to accept School B, those 10 WL will be converted to COs & they’ll call up 2 more to offer WL.

I am not sure one can do that. As per my information given to me by Admin at NUS high during tea party, when the school releases their CO and waitlist they submit it to MOE and changes to that can be made only by MOE after the option forms are filled. So even if the parents want to be considerate and helpful its not possible to inform school and cancel the CO

I am not sure one can do that. Good suggestion, but not feasible. As so many schools results not out yet, I don't think the patents and students can make decision on spot next week when receiving co. Only hope next Monday, then some parents may call admin before 31/8. I know quite some, they just DSA first, after getting co, then START to think which one is the most suitable. Even if some call admin, admin must have enough time to call other parents, modify whole wl, and submit to moe. If they think time not enough, they won't bother to do it if only few cases, as they already have wl, it works every and each year.

The convert of WL to co will only be announced after psle I thought? That’s why some school can ask their WL students to put the school as their 1st choice to have higher chance to be converted?

Also, for those who hear from more than one schools & received both CO & WL, consider based on your child’s choice & preference.


If School A is choice school, even WL is not a lost deal.

a) WL for school A
b) CO for school B

Student can consider 1st WL as some schools who hv those who released COs quickly enuf to enable school to convert your WL to CO. Even if not successful in school A, you still hv the CO fr school B. According to our briefing, the principal clearly pointed out the second CO will not be taken fr you. So, exercise your choice this way if your DC’s choice school is school A.
