Why others no chance to convert? I am confused. Schools give out wl, in order to solve this situation: co reject, place released. If we can solve it before 30/10, no need to have wl, right? Wl is for this purpose, if finally school doesn't fill the DSA quota, means they misplaced themselves and gave out too few wl.Smiling,
I think Francoise & Esteème have given us very good examples of how we as parents should teach our children to be more considerate towards one another. Although we do not know each other but this forum really help us to gather many useful informations and in this case, it really make sense that parents sit down and discuss with your child and decide which CO to accept and which CO to reject asap so that the others under WL will have a better chance to be converted to CO soonest. Imagine if your child is the one waiting anxiously, you will be happy to know that one precious chance is given back to you if they choose to reject it early.
This is also a good time to show our children not to be selfish and hold on to many CO and only to reject it at the last minute giving others no chance to convert.
JMHO
Yes, I understand and agree that we should consider for others, if we can, better do it. But for those who can't decide so soon, still give them time. -
Regarding RI sports domain CO. School is very responsible that they called the parents to make sure they will take the offer before they send them CO letter. There's at least one parent rejected. So the CO is given to another student.
Unfortunately I have also heard of cases where parents said yes yes on the phone but ended up going to another school after receiving the CO letter. Nothing is concrete until you submit the option form. I feel for the schools and those on WL.
So for this, DS and us have decided to make a decision before 31st Aug so that kids on the WL can get a chance to be confirmed early.
You are a gem, Francoise! :hi5:
Btw, Francoise, if I had not congratulated your DS receiving CO, I truly rejoice with you!
:rahrah:

The SOTA admin told me that the briefing session will sometime on the last week of October before the options exercise. Confusing info they are giving here
Perhaps, last week of oct is for briefing the parents and kids once more, before the final decision. and the dec one is orientation or something for the kids who got in.
Oops... We will be back fr hols on 11th night... Hope wont miss the session if it is on tt wk.miiniworld:
Anyone called SOTA to enquire on Briefing session? I called and they replied there will be briefing after the option is exercised around the week commencing Dec 11.
Anyone knows more than that? -

I do not understand, why parents who want to take reasonable time to make the decision is selfish. If the decision is so easy to make, why MOE gives us 2 months time to submit the form.
Many of us like me and my DS are still waiting for the results. Some school's principle brief are scheduled in Oct, how to make decision without listening principle's brief?
It is selfish only if the parents committed their DC's attendance to the school and then turned that school down. Do not confuse. -
To Oldgal and others who have CO/WL for SOTA
October briefing after PSLE is to motivate, and clarify doubts/questions and to encourage these privileged DC to rubber stamp on the Form and choose SOTA. It is a fantastic opportunity to clear all doubts and ask all questions for both parents and DC. The December briefing is for those who have their Form from MoE (comes with PSLE results slip), having passed the Cut Off points for Express stream, to submit to SOTA personally, collect booklist, get Uniforms list and go to Geylang and buy their uniforms the same day. So, SOTA students actually have a clear time advantage over the majority of PSLE students as SOTA only accepts via DSA. On PSLE Results Day, no SOTA student has to wait anxiously for MoE announcement of Secondary School allocated, then rush to do registration etc. After the second briefing, SOTA students can leave Singapore for a well deserved long long long holiday…welcome welcome to all SOTA 2018 cohort -
Smiling,
If you and your boy are still waiting for "results" by all means just wait there is nothing you can do now right???
What I am saying is do not put other parents down just because they gave good advices to others to try to make up their mind early in the event if the schools they had DSAed akready given them the COs.
No point arguing if we don’t have the same views on certain things.
There is nothing to be confuse about. -
