MommyNg hi
1) yes, if gets CO, puts 1st choice, definitely will get into the schoolRainbow sky:
Sorry may I ask a question that was already discussed before but it didn't quite register with me.
1) If one gets a CO, puts 1st choice, means definitely will get into the school?
2) If one gets 1 CO and 1 WL, but prefers the second school, under the option form how should one indicate>?
1st choice WL school
2nd choice CO school
If in this instance, does it mean that the CO is no longer guaranteed as didn't put first choice?
Thank you in advance.
2) if puts WL 1st choice and CO 2nd choice, if WL doesn't convert to CO, then you will definitely get your CO (2nd choice). If really like WL school, one way is to put WL as the only choice (and don't put CO at all) and in the event WL doesn't convert to CO, then still have a chance with WL school via PSLE results.
The only time that you don't get your CO is if you don't put that school at all in the Option form in end Oct.
Can you elaborate on your pt 2 - if WL not convert to CO, still have a chance with WL school via PSLE results ... how that 'chance' works? Thanks. -

If WL not converted to CO, and you didn't put any other CO school in the Option Form, then you will be eligible to participate in S1 posting based on PSLE results. if your PSLE score meets the cut-off-point for WL school, then you will get posted to WL school if you put that as first choice during S1 posting.

It is a \"chance\" because if your PSLE results did not meet the COP of WL school, then you will not be posted to the school.
Just to clarify, for point 2, there is a risk if you put only WL school and do not put any CO school. If WL school did not convert, you will also not get your CO school (because you did not put it on the option form). If PSLE results meet WL cut off point, well and good, during S1 posting, put WL as first choice and you will end up with WL. If PSLE results below WL COP, then you don't get WL (and you may not get the earlier CO school if you also don't meet COP). So take this option only if you are very sure you really want to try for WL school and don't mind losing the CO school... -

I like to expand on my question ... if with PSLE result we put WL school choice 1 & affiliated school choice 2, will that cause a losing chance at affiliated if fail to meet WL school COP? -
Yes, you will lose your affiliation if you place it as 2nd choice.

Affiliation \"discount\" only works if you put the affiliated school as 1st choice. If you put in as any other choice, it would be the \"normal\" cut-off point as though no affiliation.

So if with PSLE results, say 248, you put WL school choice 1 (COP = 250) & affiliated school choice 2 (COP = 250, affiliation COP = 230), then you would not be posted to either of the two schools, and MOE system will look at your 3rd choice and so forth... -

Hi Hojicha,

My u'stand'g of affiliated school for S1 posting is that has to be put as 1st choice & choice 2 will become invalid affiliation privileges. Affiliation provides feeder school with 1st priority over equally qualifying applicants fr other schools, after then remaining places open up to the rest. Except also, %tage of at least 25% must be open to others.
So, you'll hv a harder decision if your DC's choice school that offered WL is not part of your affiliate.
Do correct my u'stand'g if someone else hv more details. -

I'm clueless on this ... Thanks so much for sharing knowledge! By the S1 posting we will have the PSLE result on hand already to make those crucial choice/s right? -

Kind of, a close estimate. The issue here is that you will only know this year's COPs for each school after the S1 posting results are out (in Dec). It's based on demand and supply. Last year COP can only be used as a gauge, and this year COP may vary depending on various factors (although usually not drastic, a few points at most?)Winnie08:
