For P6s, it is natural that many parents focus on comparing the Y1-Y4 programs. I feel it is equally important to look at Year 5-6 program leading up to the A level exams. For IP students who are not taking O levels, the A levels (or IB) results will be be used for university admission. Heard from an insider source that in terms of A level results, HCI is distant second behind RI (in past years). A level results is of course only one aspect, but it reflects the strength of the Y5-6 program & quality of teaching. The schools released press releases on their A level results on their websites so that is another point for research.

Here is 2016 A level results from school website
RI had better top student but overall A level seems not much difference.

For IP : except for NYGH offering affiliation to NYPS girls, all other IP schools do not offer affiliation.
Sorry I dun really understand your point?? I thought SJI, ACS, MGS, SCGS, SNG, almost every sch with COP above 250 are all affiliated to their respective primary schools, so \"outsiders\" need to cross higher barrier to get in while insiders are guaranteed as long as clear Express cutoff 200

For IP track - there is no affiliation \"benefit\" except NYGH.
For example SNGS - O level track, there is affiliation COP for SNGS primary girls. For IP, they still have to meet the COP that is same for any student from any school.

We attended a session at HCI too, for DSA students, they do not need to meet the COP. Those who are on waitlist now, to convert to CO, they must meet cut-off for express stream (200) and of course subjected to the vacancy available for WL. For all WL students now, their names have been submitted to MOE. Their system will generate who to be converted to CO if we submit the option form which will given to our DC on 30 Oct by their primary school. So on the actual day of results release, we will know if our DC is offered a place or rejected. If is rejection, then our child will have to follow the S1 posting.

All WL will be submitted to MOE? So allocation to WL after this is done by MOE rather than school?

Those schools only offer affiliation to O level track, not IP track...

                  Hi,

Need advice on 2 waiting list.

                  Sch A
WL number revealed to parents, school said if you put in 1st choice, Good chance of getting in.

                  Sch B
WL number not revealed. Very small dsa number. Child preferred school

                  If we put in
                  1. Sch B
                  2. Sch A

If #1 not converted to CO, then we will lose the WL for sch A?

                  How does 2 WLs work?
If Sch A is yr child's dream school, put it as 1st owise indeed u'll loose the chance for conversion.

I cannot assess Sch B bcoz the sch did not indicate to you chances. But since both WL, Sch A better chance, unless yr child not interested in Sch A.

If no interest in sch A, then work hard for PSLE for sch A.

If anyone hv CO & WL, yr selection of WL as first choice will not cause you to loose yr CO. That's the easier one to make decision if child like both schools.

MOE is the 'clearing' house for CO/WL ie CO turned down, WL (by rank) will be pushed up the list for offer. Preference form given by Oct, needs indicate clearly choice school and MOE will be the 'one' on allocation. All DSA CO/WL must minimum meet the express cop. That's my understanding.

Ok thanks understand what u mean now.

I believe only a small % in a cohort is IP, the bulk of the students who are affiliated still get in with much lower score and end up singing the same school song for at least 4 years, IP or no IP will in no time become good friends. My point: is it worth the hassle to joint such affiliated school , are they being over hype in a way simply becos they have long history n strong alumni ?

                        Rainbow sky,

I believe u've bro't to correct focus that WL is beyond school to offer once submitted to MOE by 31 Aug. It's my inclination that was raised by during one principal's briefing that if some parents are able to be decision & release before submission to MOE, the sch can still offer WL in the line to convert into CO.
