hi to all - question - if we have received a confirmed offer we do not need to do anything (such as replying to the SST email) and only have to opt for SST in the end Oct for the placement exercise? tks for advice
-
The placement exercise starts from 30 Oct. There is a briefing to all students and parents on 28 Oct by the principal.
Will be able to get more info then. -
Hi I’m new here. My daughter has been given the confirmed offer. May i ask if we can still choose other secondary schools?
-
Hi Vanwong
Congrats to your DD. :rahrah:
During the school placement exercise from 30 Oct to 3 Nov, just indicate SST as your preferred choice with the school code given. I believed this info was given to you in the confirmation email.
If your DD has more than one offer under DSA, then you have to make a decision during this period. Only 1 DSA school can be selected.
The S1 phase is only after the release of PSLE results and if our DS and DD all make it thru to express stream, then in the collection of the results, it will clearly shown to them that they have are a confirm school posting under DSA.
So if they have a confirm school posting, they do not need to participate in the S1 school posting ex anymore. We are not allow to turn down the DSA offer after the PSLE results are released.
This is my understanding from the confirmation email that I have received. Anyway, on 28 Oct, the principal from SST will share more and you can check on it again then. -
:thankyou:

May I ask how would you rate your child in term
(1) how hands-on is your child’s learning style
(2) how keen is your child into techie stuff
My DD is 6/10 so I do have my reservations on how well can she fit into the school, thus like to hear from other parents who received the CO/WL please. -

Understand your concern over your DD's ability to get the best out of her learning style. SST style of approach in teaching may not suit every child in terms of their learning method but i believed SST has their way of gauging the student's ability when they conduct their selection camp. Furthermore, your DD is one of the 200 being selected, definitely they see some potential in her because not only is she able to go thru the GAT and CRT successfully but she also managed to clear the selection camp as well (discussion, group work cum interview). That is a lot for a P6 kid.
As a parent, I respected my DS's decision if that is what he wanted although the school fee is kinda of X for a independent school that has a 4 year O level programme. So the question here is whether your DD is keen in going to SST or not? If so, maybe you should highlight your concern to her as a parent.
I also understand that the number of student per class in SST is about 20 to 25 based on their website info, so maybe with a smaller class size, teacher and student interaction will be more thus it is also good for the child to ask and learn more from their friends. And also the number of girls to boys ratio is smaller so i believed the bonding among the girls will be stronger and they will definitely be able to help each other out, right?
Every child is different and i believed even if your DD is 6/10 and not so IT savvy, she can make it for sure.
