          Yalor... angry, hor?
Got choices la but chances of it happening very slim:

          1) Committee disqualify only 1 of the 2 men, paving the way for a one-on-one fight. Not gonna happen, in my opinion. It will either be walkover or 3-corner fight to boost chances for endorsed candidate.

          2) Assuming a 3-corner fight, somehow those who oppose this reserved election can miraculously be of one mind and all only choose 1 of the 2 men, instead of splitting their votes. Same for those who are going to cast spoilt protest votes to cast their votes for that candidate. Probability super low la... nobody can agree on anything nowadays, much less in politics.
just bcos it is open to we citizens to vote, we don't have any choice at all...basically it's just paving the way for ONE person to be the president. spoil the vote, she gets it.

              She IS a MUSLIM.
She is just not a Malay, but that's really a minor issue 😉

I feel so so sorry for our Malay compatriots esp those 2 millionaire candidates. They need to be subjected to the state's Community Committee and Minority Rights Committee's FACT FINDINGS on their ETHNICITY, be interviewed if nec or tested for their MALAY LANG PROFICIENCY, before being RUBBER STAMPED & CERTIFIED: \"You are hereby Malay\".

I cannot help but think of the following race charts from Germany in the 1930s:

It reminds me of millions of immigrants arriving at Ellis Island and Angels Island being classified and certified by the US CIQ....haiz...

I hope they get their MALAY CERTIFICATE.

So is she deemed Malay because she's a Muslim? Not sure if there are non-Muslim Malays in SG but if there are, does it mean such Malay, even if he/she is 100% Malay, as long as he/she's not a Muslim, he/she is not considered a Malay?

Welcome to Singapore. Just to echo my friends in STB, we are Uniquely Singapore. And if you have the Passion (to be President), we make it Possible (move the goalposts, modify the rules, change the race also can). I think if the G were to fix this election such that only a candidate of Indian-Malay pedigree is eligible, that would be kind of obviously kelong right?

Just to answer your question. Yes, there are Malays who are not Muslims. Islam is a religion, and it is not compulsory in Singapore to have a religion. Some may have renounced the religion while others may have adopted another religion. A small group is the by-product of inter-racial marriage (FATHER Malay) but does not accept Islam as the family's religion.
