Check with the airlinesHi
Anyone has any idea to share if it is ok to bring personal/rental wheelchair for elderly on airplane?
Any airline restriction etc? Need doctor letter? Just for elderly who cannot walk for long.
Thanks

Did not see any info from Changi Airport website. Most indicate willing to loan the wheelchair just within the location in airport.
I am trying to see which airline allows. Japan/Malaysia airlines?
Thanks -
Have you called the airlines? I'm very sure that every airline will have its own policy on this, so it's best you check with them directly. Start with the couple of airlines you are most likely to book on, and if they are uncooperative, expand your search. I don't know how many here will have experience as I think most won't have the experience.
This is a website about travelling in the US with a wheelchair, but it may give you some ideas of what to ask:

No experience bringing it on the plane, I guess it will be considered special item to be checked in accordingly.
What I have done before is request for special assistance (and it can either be to the plane seat itself or boarding area). What happens is if you require full service, airline assistance will meet with the passenger at the check in counter and the passenger then takes the wheelchair and is wheeled directly from there, all the way to the seat. Upon plane landing, all passengers will disembark first and then they will assist the passenger from the plane to the customs area. Itβs all free! Just call the airline up and book this service. There are various layers of service, so you can choose and ask for whatever is needed in the circumstance.
