2017 PSLE Discussions and Strategies

I think we should be giving them a pat on the back. For the effort that they have put in. Celebrate the completion of their 1st national exam. All these are independent of whatever results they may get.
It’s been almost a week since the science paper. I hope it is only on forums and amongst adults that parents are talking about the papers and not anymore with the kids. If you are still asking your kids about the papers, please stop already. It’s over. Talk about the long holiday that the kids will be having, all the programmes or travel plans that you have made if any.
If your kid is still feeling down, assure them that whatever the outcome, you will be there for them. Secondary school life is so much more beyond which school, what grades, etc. That is the time when the children will have a taste independence, more room to exercise their creativity and individuality, hone their interpersonal skills and hopefully get in touch with and better understand their inner self. It is the time when they become young gentlemen and ladies. -
Hi
Any parents heard of any post PSLE survey this week for p6 students? -

Thanks Tigressina!
She commented why MOE is cruel this year and asked me to search for Secondary school with lowest COP requirement to express stream.
No worries! Jiayou 加油!
(^ω^)
We all need that now and later. Cheer her up, keep her preoccupied with things she likes to do which she couldn't do when prepping for the exam. Most importantly, keep the family closely knit, happy and when she feels the love and care she needs from her loved ones, she will be more open and willing to share her thoughts and feelings as she becomes a teen (instead of turning to peers and get influenced negatively by others). :snuggles:

We don’t want kids to indulge in talking abt what’s past. We’re alr out of Spore & into 5th day of our trip. Kids must be swept off their feet fr that pressuring exams and rewarded for all their hard work. As usual, we’re peppering the trip with readings of 红罗梦 & 西域记. They get to hv 15 min of screen games daily, btwn tour spots. So far we did rafting, Ferris wheels, Science, Arts & Cultural museums, & maglev rides. Will be going to the quiet mountains & beaches tmr. They’ve to help learn to topo(graphy) for next pit stops, etc. I’ve only learnt these skills during my young adulthood, not earlier. Think they like the lifeskills & experience.
The past cannot be retracked. Please move on & engaged your young ladies & chaps with new outdoor experiences.
Wish every child a relaxing time after your major exams!

the booklet of secondary schools should have been issued. be positive and move on. PSLE is over. this is the first milestone. there are many more to come. next year, you will breathe a sigh of relief and tell yourself, 'i've been through this.'Refer to the P6 booklet given, to help you choose Secondary schools ?
Look at their COP, narrow down those better Secondary schools around your area, so that your child Sec 1 next year, don't have to waste time travelling so far to and fro, everyday.
Next year, Sec 1 : one big change they face is : no more 4 subjects. Become 8, is a different ball game.
Time management, is crucial
go through the booklet and shortlist schools based on COP...for eg 200-205, school 1, 2, 3. 206-210 school 1,2,3.
secondary 1 is totally different from primary school. there is english, MT, math, science, history, geography, literature, art, D&T. school hours are longer and subjects are tougher. time is very precious everyday. oh yes, there is also CCA and some CCAs may be held twice or 3x a week. after a long day in school, there is homework which is due the next day. do choose secondary schools carefully. -
Hi MyPillow
Thanks. That means it is a norm for different schools to be selected then.
They are going to have to do Maths this week and there was no information from schools on the purpose of such practice. Now I can be assured it’s a norm. Thanks
