Hi,
Son desperately needs help with Literature. He is in the 1st year in the IP program and is doing unseen poetry as part of the curriculum. Please advise on any resources that can help; whether private tutors, tuition centres or resource books. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of resources or info online.
Thanks in advance !! -
Hi, my girl is getting restless at home after her PSLE. anyone can advise which English Literature the school is using for Cedar-IP year 1?
Or for any IP school -year 1 English Literature books, would like to get her some books to pass time. Thanks! -

Just bring her to a library and let her choose what she wants to read. Why read only books used in school? Or google for recommended books for her age range - there are a lot of lists of good books online.Hi, my girl is getting restless at home after her PSLE. anyone can advise which English Literature the school is using for Cedar-IP year 1?

Sure, it's not a bad idea to read the books used by other schools. It sounded like she was planning to read only those books, which is a bit limiting. Glad to hear she loves reading. She's got 2.5 more months to read! -

You can try The Boy In Striped Pajamas and/or Animal Farm. Most of my students read this. Schools change their literature texts often but these are great books to read even if not in your child's school list. -

I don't know what schools trying to achieve by using these two books at Sec 1 level. I believe 90% of good life Singapore kids don't have the emotional maturity to appreciate the real meanings of the stories.scotia:

Dont know what the schools trying to proof (most kids can score due to 'exam prep' more than understanding the 'morals' of the stories and this to me is ultra meaningless).
