Hi
If hiring maids to take care young children should select filipino or indonesian?
Nationality shouldn't be the issue Snow24, you should find one that likes to mingle with your children -
Hi I just employed a Cambodia maid. I hope to give off day after her loan finish. However she don’t have any friends in Singapore. Anyone knows where Cambodia maid go to on their off day? So that I can direct her there? I know Myanmar maid goes to peninsula plaza, Filipino goes to lucky plaza and Indo goes to City plaza.

A quick question. My Cambodian maid just told
Me her rice not nice to eat. It was a brand new packet of rice I bot from NTUC. She wants me to give her another brand that’s to her liking. As I only take brown rice, can U tell me what brand of reasonably priced white rice u buy for yr maid? -

Nationality per se is not the issue, but I think the helper should be able to speak some English so that your child can communicate with her without any problems. Many helpers from Cambodia and Myanmar speak very poor English. It's a challenge even for adults to communicate with them. My helper who is Indonesian can speak some English and is able to read simple books to my son. This helps them to build a bond, so that my son is happy to have her take care of him when my wife is busy.Snow24:

Hi
Anyone can share house rules, and rules on social media for maid. -
House rules will differ. It depends on what you expect from your helper. My family does not expect a lot, but we do know of friends who wrote down a list of rules for their helpers. It may be better for you to discuss with your family members. For social media, no access unless she requests to go on Facebook to see the photos uploaded by her family.

Hi
Thanks for sharing Think English.
I dont restrict the usage of facebook by the maids.
I am not comfortable that she post photo of my child and reveal out info of her employer in her facebook.
Is there anything employers can do to protect our personal data. -
We highlighted to our helper not to take pictures of our house or family members using her phone and post them online. Our helper has not requested for free access to the Internet yet and we don’t think she has broken the rules. However, it will be difficult for you to monitor your helper’s social media usage as she’s been used to having free access. Have you spoken to her about the issue? She may not be aware of the dangers of posting such information online. You can share some stories with her to educate her about how to use social media safely. As a last resort, you may want to report the photos and posts with information about your family. She will then be requested to remove them.
