I must say, even thou my dd has a DSA IP CO in hand, I am still feeling nervous as the release of PSLE results getting closer. :stompfeet:

I have been thinking is it wise to DSA via sport/CCA? If your DC expected T-score is in the range of 240-250, he will find it hard to cope in those Elite or top brand school, such as RI, RGS anb HCI.

        Miracles dont always happen.
My friend’s ds is in RI via swimming and now confirm to be doing "O" level and RI does not have good track records for "O" level.
NUSH is another "trap" for some students. Interested in science and maths dose not mean your dc can cope, especially if your dc got in becuase he had special coaching for NUSH DSA.
Anyway, all the best to all DC, no matter which school they finally got admitted.

DSA via sports/cca is really very tricky & very risky. For a student who is able to survive in the studies for 6 yrs plus competitive sports- he/she must be a true all-rounder. I knew a couple of mothers dsa their dc via competitive sports. They wanted their dc to enter Top brand IP school via cca, but at the same time very dilemma for their dc to commit for 4-6 yrs, & scared they can’t cope with their 7-8 subjs bc of intensive training. Ask them DSA by academic loh - they said academic very difficult, very competitive, sure cannot get in. Ask them by PSLE results lo - they saiď scared the result shover 240 to 250, cannot go top school. Haiz…what to say? Die-die also must get in…

Imho .... need also trust the school that made the selection ie they assessed and know the chosen DC will make the cut and school is just as committed to ensure it. All these aside that DC needs stay consistent thru.

Yes...\"DC needs stay consistent thru\" -- that is what I refer to as all-rounder in terms of study + competitive cca + school activities. Cannot \" puncture tyre\" halfway, impt must '\"stay consistent thru\".

I'm afraid this is often not the case, though we mostly envisage it to be. Seen enough sportsmen/sportswomen who dsa to top schs via sports and eventually having to repeat / switch to non-ip / fail or simply graduate with a O / A level cert which can land you no where decent.

I have to say I agree. The great majority of kids who enter an IP school or JC via DSA Sport struggle badly and end up repeating / switching to O levels or doing badly. Yes, there are exceptions that do well, but to me, its kinda dangerous to plan on being an exception.

Is better to talk to parents with IP kids before committing to dsa through sports to TOP school… we often hear parents say trust the school selection etc but surely there will be those who cannot make it… so know your child…
