They will issue a letter but they will have a list who has fulfilled the hours.Hi,
For parents that had completed 40 hours as a PV, will the school issue a letter confirming that you can register in 2B? Or the parents just go to the school to register on the registration day? -

Hi Parents,
I have a few pieces of Hong Wen boys shorts to give away. Sizes 8 and 10. Please PM me if you will like to take any for your DS. -
Hi,
I am thinking of trying to enrol my son born 2012 into Hong Wen. We live < 1Km away but even then I understand it will require balloting at phase 2C.
My son currently attends a local kindergarten and although they study chinese heβs more inclined to speak english at home and sometimes he talks mandarin to his grandparents. My worry is how he might cope or not cope with the chinese language. I can say for sure mandarin is not his first language! Other areas in academia I think he will be able to cope well. -

Hi hquek,Lucky P3 kids this year. Hope your kid has fun!
This year P4 have CEAL program - some developmental stuff like leadership, Chinese drama and what nots. I am pulling DS2 out of the swim portion because I don't have manpower to go pick him up plus he already has regular swim class outside of school.
may i know if your DS2 exempted from the swim prog? With CEAL and CCA, it implies that a student has to stay back 2x a week which i don't really in favor. It quite exhausting for the caretaker and the child especially mine need to wake up at 5.15 am every morning. -

erm, my kid wasn't so much exempted from swim prog than I refuse to allow him to go. Without parental consent, they really can't bring. I took the words 'strongly encouraged' in the letter very seriously.
I am sorry for seemingly encouraging people to rebel BUT 1) my kid has learnt swimming and has gotten his Swimsafer badges/what nots, so swim program wasn't a priority for me. that said, I firmly believe that all kids should learn swimming as a life skill. So far, when I ask around friends, the swim program introduced by schools IN GENERAL do not quite teach a kid how to swim.
2) I rely on my aged parents to fetch him from school and since my older boy was in P6 then, it was going to be a matter of deciding which kid I love more if I was to allow DS2 to join the swim program.
I would say depend on individual situation cos not all of us are blessed to be able to fetch our kids at all hours of the day. And erm, pls note that this year, DS2 has to stay back 4x a week for supp classes, cca and what nots. So do be prepared for the years to come.
