Any idea whether US Universities give 2 yrs deferment after admission offer?

      No fixed policy.
Some allows you to defer for two years. Some one year. Some not at all.
You should ask the university that you are interested in directly.

My daughter (taking A levels now) tells me that the boys she knows aren't applying to US universities yet as some/most(?) won't give 2-yr deferment. They plan to apply next year.

most of top universities in US give upto 2 years deferment to Singapore Boys due to NS. But UC Berkeley does not allow deferment at all. So please check University WEB page.

Sorry but anyone has any idea if boys doing foundation courses in overseas uni after o level, are they allowed to complete their degree first or they need to return to sg for ns or will they be granted deferment? Assuming that the boy is going to australia for 4 yr, 1 yr foundation at 17yo, and complete his degree within 3 yrs (20yo). Thanks in advance for advice/reply.

                  https://www.cmpb.gov.sg/web/portal/cmpb/home/before-ns/pre-enlistment-process/deferment-for-studies

You may be granted deferment to pursue full-time overseas studies (up to the GCE 'A’ Level, polytechnic diploma or their equivalent qualifications) if you are younger than 19 years old (for Secondary 4 students) or 20 years old (for Secondary 5 and ITE students) as at 1 January of the year you commence your course.

                  > He will be allowed to be deferred up until he completes his foundation year, after which he would have to return to SG. No deferment allowed for University studies***

                  *** some exceptions.

Hi floppy, thank you for your reply. Then in this case, can the boy go ns at 17yo (assuming he was born in Dec) after he completes his 1yr foundation course?

I have men serving NS at 16+, just short of their 17th birthday.

Minimum age is 16.5yo, with parental consent.
