Are these 2 ways the fastest ways to get to NCHS fm Sembawang (near MRT) in morning? Any advises are welcome. TIA šŸ˜„

      Fm Sembawang
      1) 117 change 965 along Yishun then change 372 at the stop before Sengkang Int (alight at NCHS side gate)
      2) 858 change 965 at Yishun then change 372 at the stop before Sengkang Int (alight at NCHS side gate)

      :goodpost:
My colleague told me 85 also can go to NCHS fm Yishun.

So if change to 372 kids don't nid to walk much?

Actually the walking distance is not as far as you think.
Students know how to take the shortest route by walking through the HDB block.
Most students choose to walk rather than taking bus 372 as each bus interval is quite long.

Hi, can I check with you all since Cheng Chung (CC) is affiliated to NYJC, does that infer that CC students have the advantage when it comes to O level L1R5 total points as compared to NCHS students when being considered for NYJC entry? If true, a CC student seemingly needs lesser effort to hit the required score as compared to other students who are non-affiliated to enter NYJC, right? I’m now considering between NC and CC for my DD. Thanks a lot.

Being affiliated to a JC isn't a huge advantage. There are bonus points (2 points) if you choose the affiliated JC as your first, or first and second choice. However, you can earn the points from elsewhere and there is a cap to the bonus points you can earn (4 points from the section). See http://www.ifaq.gov.sg/moe/apps/fcd_faqmain.aspx#FAQ_55558.

Hi floppy, thanks for the reply and information provided. This is helpful. Btw, any comments between these 2 schools? We have been to the open house on Sat and they have too many similarities like curriculum, results and culture and it's tough to differentiate clearly. Any helpful insights are greatly appreciated. Thanks once again. šŸ™‚

Nchs side gate is ard 10min walk from Sk/compassvale interchange. No need change to 372 if not raining.

Fro me the main difference is dat Nan Chiau have ALP which is offered to the whole level in yr 1 and 2. Nan Chiau is stronger in Science also so is to the advantage of my kid since she aiming sci stream in JC. Heard from the HOD dat the kids r doing Arduino programming as a project under ALP.

List of schs offering ALP Programme fm MOE:
                  https://www.moe.gov.sg/docs/default-source/document/education/secondary/applied-learning/list-of-schools-offering-alp.pdf

Also find Nan Chiau more accessible than Chung Cheng Main during rainy days.

Thanks for the sharing and information. Yes, Nan Chiau is also more accessible from my location. Of course, Chung Cheng is sitting on a large plot of land with their trademark lake and buildings to woo people over. End of the day, I think the school programs matter a lot. And one observation we made was Nan Chiau students are more polite and respectful during the open house. Not sure if this is the baseline though.

Yeah was sharing the same feel too. The students are very modest and really want to do well.

Went to Chung Cheng's openhouse last yr, at first was impressed but now really feel bit far from that they show. I went again with my girl a few mths back to have a good look at the atmosphere around their O Level period (went to meet their HODs coz expected openhouse alot ppl again) The environment is good I must say, but the discipline was worrying. It was night study but saw quite a number of students just fooling around and playing fone with their book open. After comparing wat HOD said with other SAP schs their past yr results wan't that decent also.

I hav a friend with a twin in Anglican and Nan Chiau last time so can ask their kids (Both scored straight As, now in HCI, taking CLEP). I would say both schs attitude were much better, just dat Anglican High the church culture too strong my girl don't like it (heard got quite a lot of religious stuffs in the programme). And from der open houses at Nan Chiau, after talking to a few kids thr I don't think I will change my decision. My girl put Nan Chiau as 1st choice, just hope her 243+3 can get in. šŸ˜“
