Hi, my son just got his PSLE scores & we are considering to try Dunman High. To confirm, the reporting hours for Dunman High is so late? I thought the reporting time will be 7.30 or so like some of the govt aided school. Can I check if the School is walking distance from Mountbatten MRT?
Yes school starts at 8am on Mon to Thurs and 9am on Fri.
DHS is within walking distance from Mountbatten mrt station. My girls and many of their friends usually choose to walk. Of course there's also a bus service that goes from Mountbatten mrt right up to the front gate of the school. -
Hi, my daughter is concidering to go to Dunman High and she wants to cycle to school.
Could anyone kindly provide pros and cons of the school? Thanks!

Hi, I am considering to place my son in Dunman. I understand that this is an IP school & it is very competitive. In the event if my son does not do well in IP route, can he switch to do O levels instead but remain in Dunman? At which level can he switch? Sec 2, 3 or 4?
Also, what are the dismissal timings like for sec 1 & 2? -
MarMa:
Thanks. Sounds like Sec sch is totally different from Pri sch. My gal also sleeps at 9-10 pm now.. I hope she can manage her time and also have the stamina to withstand such long hours.
Hi MaryDaisu,MaryDaisu:
Thanks MarMa, that's very helpful.
Does your child finds it hard to cope with the syllabus? How about the school hours and time spent on Various CCA?
My DD has no tuition n has been coping fine till she started failing Ma tis yr. She's very laid-back, happy go lucky type. I let her decide if she wants tuition. She's in triple sci + history subj combi class tis n nxt yr.
Sch hrs on most days end abt 3/4+pm. Earliest dismissal at 1.45pm. Even so she might not go hm at 1.45pm if it happens to be training days.
CCA badminton training 3hrs/session/wk, Mon 4-7pm/Wed 4-7pm/Fri 5-8pm tis yr. Training resumed right after exams at 4hrs/session/wk now. Exhausting n will miss many lessons during Jan-Apr competition season. Her average sleep time 12-1am on training days after dinner, hw or prep nxt day test.
She took a while in Y1 to adjust.. fr someone who used to sleep at 9pm in pri sch.
How about the reporting hours?
Does the sch require the student to buy their own laptop or tablet?
Hi MaryDaisu,
Reporting hours:
8am Mon-Thur
9am Fri
My DD is on sch bus so she leaves hm at 6.35am. Bus comes abt 6.45am n reaches sch abt 7.40am.
Students are not required to buy laptop/tablet.
Do you all have the bus vendor contact? Do they take children from Toa Payoh/ Serangoon area? -

My DD said she didn't think there's a designated parking area for bicycles inside the campus.Hi, my daughter is concidering to go to Dunman High and she wants to cycle to school.
1.May I know is there any bicycle parking areas in the school?
2.Btw, is there any school buses for them in the morning? We live near Boon Keng MRT station.
3.Could anyone kindly provide pros and cons of the school? Thanks!

Yes there is 'O' level class. Streaming is done at the end of year 2. Not sure if IP students in year 3 can still go to 'O' level class if he/she cannot meet IP promotion criteria at the end of the year. More likely, he/she will have to repeat year 3.Hi, I am considering to place my son in Dunman. I understand that this is an IP school & it is very competitive. Does that mean at year 2, they will know whether or not they are taking the O levels route or continuing with IP programme? How many O levels classes are there in year 3 & 4? Thanks in advance for sharing.

Yes at the end of year 2, they will know. Generally those who score below 60 marks on average (roughly translated into 2.4 GPA under school's grading system) will be streamed to 'O' level class.
