      anandhi:
      Hi parents,

My son did not take HMT in PSLE, can we request for HMT in secondary school ? what is the procedure to switch to HMT in secondary school?
      Hi anandhi
All IP students must take HMT unless they are exempt from Mother Tongue. O level students in top schools are encouraged to take HMT whether or not they took it in pri school.
I believe there is an \"eligibility\" for HMT in the PSLE result slip?

It's not compulsory for all IP students to take HMT. Varies from school to school.

I am confused about this whole hmt thing. So do the IP students take O level hcl or cl at Sec 3 or 4? And what exemption does it give in JC? I heard still must take cl or hcl in JC after this O level cl/hcl

IP students who are doing HCL take their O level HCL at Year 4. If they do well enough, they're exempted from taking MT in JC.

You need to pass MT to get into the local unis. That's the only implication.

D7 is the minimum needed to get into local universities - is that considered a \"pass\"?

I don't think there is HCL in JC. Students who aren't exempted in JC take H1 MT.
