Hi! Anyone applied for Nanyang Pri PV for child born in 2013? Any idea when the results will be out? Website says Nov/Dec but school staff says maybe Jan/Feb next year.

          Dear parents,

PV clocked hour is 52hrs already but the school haven’t said to stop yet and in fact even come out with new schedules until next year May.
So, it will be more than 80hrs. Anyone has similar experiences ?
          Thank you.

Which school? If NYPS, the minimum is 80 hours.

You need to ask the school what is the minimum for them to issue the phase 2B letter. If they say 40 hours confirm will get the letter, then u need to ask them does clocking more hours put u higher up the wait list if balloted out. My school told me that verbally, so I put in the extra hours willingly.

(If your schedule really cannot cough up more hours, or it's been physically taxing on you, just let them know diplomatically.)

Thank you for the reply. It is Westwood primary school. They already mentioned that they will not like the way that parent stop at 40 hrs and appear only at P1 registration time. But didn’t mention how long they need it.

If the finishing line is 40 hours, then 40 hours it is.
Don't like the way how that works, doesn't mean you can stop the way how it works.

we served 60 hours although 40 hours is the minimum. there were not many PVs accepted, so hubby continued to serve the school. work wasn't very hard and he didn't feel good just clocking up minimum hours.

Started serving PV since Jul 17 and I’ve surpassed the required hours during this 1st half of the term already. Will continue with the PV duties during the 2nd half of the term as I’ve observed that there’s not enough PVs helping out and genuinely wanna contribute what little I can. I know at this stage, our P1 slot is still not guaranteed but doesn’t matter. After serving for some time, I’ve made friends and bonded with the others along the way. Maybe I’m too idealistic but I’ve developed a sense of attachment and responsibility towards the school since embarking on this PV journey so it’s no longer about just fulfilling the required hours to qualify for P2B registration anymore.

hubby was the one who served majority of the PV hours. although there is no guarantee, what is important is having sense of attachment and getting a better understanding of the school culture and environment. this PV journey should be done not purely because of getting into the school. i still remember my son volunteered my name for all his excursions after he got into the school.

Hi parents, tried to find my answer browsing through this thread until my eye hurt…so please pardon me for this simple question. I’m wondering if PV for more than 1 year is allowed or would bring any benefit? I saw some older posts suggesting that some popular schools give priority to parents who served longer than 1 year, but that was back in 2008 so not sure if this is still the case. Also, i’m trying to minimize the risk of application rejection for the year that matters, based on the assumption that prior PV experience would give me an advantage when re-applying for another year.

Thanks in advance for your advice!
