but also are friends and confidantes to the students.
Indeed I see my girl having close relationship with some of the teachers and they talk like friends.

Some of her teacher look so young that I thought is her classmate. :rotflmao:

Does anyone know how many JH1 classes NJC have? On the orientation day, it was okay, I suppose. Filled up all the forms and handed them up, etc. One thing to note: My DD is under MOE FAS, and when we went to the bookshop, the bookshop auntie asked us to get the uniform first before coming back as she was busy. We did indeed get the uniform + PE and when we went back, the auntie made us wait for a very long time before finally coming to serve us. Just something I noted. Now I have to deal with my DD coming home late everyday except for Wednesday.

Hi, we're considering the njc ip, do the Teachers provide notes, material or are the students expected to to do their own note compilation especially in first 2 years where they are finding their feet?

Is the environment and Teachers nurturing and caring?

What happens to kids who are floundering or find that ip is really not for them? Would international schools be the only way out then?
my son in jh2 now.. next year will be jh3.
the school provides their school notes except for maths and hmt. so for these two subjects, we have to buy. For maths, if you buy from the popular bookshop in njc, it has a e-bundle version where you can install to the ipad.

For Sci and literature, I do buy some guidebook and reference books (o levels) from popular as it is more colorful esp biology when he learned in jh2.

In jh1 he struggled in his maths. but he approached his maths teacher for consul classes. He attended the consul classes during jun holidays and after that he coped better.
He did tell me the teachers do conduct consul classes for other subjects too.

So far (2 years) my boy is lucky and met with good caring and nurturing teachers. I didn't hear he complain in fact some teachers he always praising their dedication.

I'm not sure about floundering kids as my boy only 2 years at njc. But he told me he heard 100% continue to uni. Though am not sure where he heard from.

First year he was quite miserable as it's not like primary school scoring 80% or so. Slowly, he adapted and I would say in his jh2, he is really happy now.

As I understand NJC does not use the GPA to compute the grades, how then do they determine the overall average performance for the year?

Also in an earlier post, it was mentioned that the 3rd language will be included in the computation of the overall average regardless of whether the child does well or not in the language, whereas other schools include the 3rd language into the overall average performance only if it helps improve the overall grades. Is this still the same under the new non-GPA system?

In the first term, a Module Information Booklet containing the Assessment Framework etcetera will be disseminated to all parents. Overall Score (including AEP, MP, 3rd Lang) for the year is usually a simple average. Do wait for your copy in case of changes/updates.

Hello, my impression is that NJC school holidays follow https://www.moe.gov.sg/education/school-terms-and-holidays#jc-sch-hols-2018. Also, I've been told that there are \"lockers\" (without the lock function?) outside classrooms. Hope this helps.
