Distant memory but basically the boys got to know the school grounds, Bishan surroundings well during the camp. They were taught songs and cheers and played games. I only recall not much time for bathing and they slept in the hall. Post checkout, will be the initiation night (my name for it) whereupon the boys are given their badges (aka the hogwarty type ceremony that involves no sorting hat).junemum72:
Anyone can share what they will be doing for the 3 days camp?

Just checked with my boy. He shared that some of the activities during the 3 days were:junemum72:

Anyone can share?
- met up and self-intro to FT and classmates
- orientation of school and Bishan area (think they walked all the way to the MOELC near the stadium)
- team bonding exercises such as games and learning of songs and cheers - a fav of many was the United song coupled with stamping of feet and clapping of hands (AHH came alive when the whole level did it together during JRIC)
- rehearsal for JRIC
I guess some of the objectives of the 3-day camp were to allow the boys to get to know the history and culture of the sch at a deeper level, and to build friendship with their peers and teachers right from the start. -
thanks hquek & irabbit for sharing.
Sorry been abit KS, any rough or make them dirty games? Son cannot wear old school shoe anymore and will be wearing a BN white shoe, worry come back, black and dirty. So wondering if its worth to invest a cheapo white school just for the 3 days camp.
sorry for being paranoid here....

My boy said there were no physically rough games during the camp. But of course all shoes will get dirty if the field gets muddy after a morning rain. This part can’t be helped.

Personally I won’t get a new pair just for those 3 days. -

My boy brings his own jacket to school occasionally. I suppose anything not too loud will be acceptable. Btw the RI jacket is quite value-for-money.Understand that the school is air-conditioned.. is there any dress code for the jacket, such as colour or no design, or they have to buy the RI jacket?
Btw. Heard that this time the school has reduced their intake of DSA GEP students. Any truth?
I was told that majority of the popular sch reduced their DSA intake for next year, including RI. And there is no longer a GEP category for RI since 2 years back. -

The P shared that the intake for this year has increased? Total 407 students for 2018 Y1. Not sure if I heard it wrongly or not. With the increased number, it makes sense why the COP drops ?

As for the DSA, yes its true that intake has reduced (not just RI or HCI). With this, it means it gets more competitive and I do understand that MS is affected as well, not only GEP. -

That's right. P said twice during the talk that the intake is 407, from 113 schools. He's happy with the diversity.

Is 407 an increase from previous years?
What were the intakes in previous years? -

Actually don't recall that there's a need to wear white shoes for the orientation days, any track shoes will do. Though hv to wear white shoes for the badge initiation ceremony at the end of orientation.thanks hquek & irabbit for sharing.

Shudders as I checked out his whitish white uniforms.
My boy has been really sotong. He has soiled many of his white uniforms during primary school to dirt, ink, mud, and dunno what nots and we had to dispose them cos I couldn’t get it off.
Good thing his pants were dark blue in color.
Now… it’s time to invest in a few bottles of bleaches…
Anyone has any suggestion what brand or effective home remedy?
