The posting system will mix and match any possible bonus points (excluding LEP) for the applicant (which maximum is 4 no matter wat)
Then if the applicant ticked \"I want to offer CLEP/MLEP...\" and chose the LEP centres as 1st choice (not sure 2nd choice count anot) extra 2 bonus points will then be counted on top of the bonus points awarded earlier.

That's why I said that for CCHY students who do not take HMT, they can still have potentially 6 bonus points if they apply to NYJC. For CCHMS/CCHY students who take HMT and do not perform that well, or they do not get 2 points from CCAs, they can use the 2 bonus points from affiliation.Weirddad:
Hmmm did yall count in the CCA bonus points? i.e. 2 points for A1 grade in CCA LEAPS point system and 1 point for A2 grade.
So a 6 points deduction can be done in: (assuming A1 in HMT and CCA record)
HMT-----(2pts) + CCA (2pts) + LEP (extra 2) = 6pts OR
Affiliation (2pts) + CCA (2pts) + LEP (extra 2) = 6pts
So not necessary to have affiliation to get 6 point bonus. (think the system still work dat way for LEAPs 2.0 system?)

How is the culture like in NYJC? Since it is among the top non-IP JC, is the environment competitive? Are students or teachers pressured to perform? Is the school \"unforgiving\" to students who fall behind since they have to uphold their ranking? Are there systematic support given to students should they fall behind in performance?
Im not going to answer the previous question as i dont think i know enough and dont want to misinform others. My personal experience in NYJC is great and i would say the culture is vibrant with friendly teachers. Personally haven't seen much bad competition between classmates, we study together and help others take notes during lectures when they are absent etc. We have many school events and happenings so the culture is not too stressful eg. Ice cream day such as free magnum twice a year
Well ventilated campus with plenty of tables n conducive library so pretty good environment to study. Pressure to perform i would say there is definitely indirect pressure on yourself especially if you are performing below average which will be evident on result slips which show percentiles (just like any other jc) but teachers do set difficult papers and have high expectations of us such as having us memorize extra optional information that other schools may not require. The standards and exam papers are getting significantly harder by the years tho... And regarding the last question like any jc those who perform below expectations would be retained although our retainee rate is not exceptionally high (<30 out of ~750 if im not wrong). Promotional criteria for ny is 2h2 passes and 1h1 pass excluding mt and pass in gp so basically need to pass close to all subs but the sch moderates results since our papers are q tough. Those that did badly for mid years and continual assessments were chosen to attend compulsory supplementary lessons before promos exams to help them clear promos. Tutors also prepare extra practices and are always open for consultations for all students. Anyway, if any parent here has a child waiting for Os results next yr, we have a jc experience programme soon so if you're interested look out for more updates on our sch fb page, website etc

How is the school time like?

I guess the most accurate answer would be \"dependent on (1) CT (i.e. the class) and (2) subject combi\". All JCs have a very high timetable mobility, just like uni. (Tho heard Hwa Chong's timetable is more regular, and their day ends earlier. Not mentioning their semester end earlier than most JCs. :censored: )How is the school time like?

Below is an example of the timetable for a CT for the last semester. I picked a random one from my friend's CT, their class was a mixed physics class of CLEP, History, Chem, ELL & English Lit ppl. (the timetable for each day is read from left to right). U will realise dat there is no specific definition for start or end time. The only constant is a morning assembly slot (8.30am-9.00am) which may OR may not have assembly (have a look at the different days and u will see the pattern).
Most CCA trainings are on Weds, except a few CCAs like Choir... (can't remember)![](\"https://s14.postimg.org/qimpyouxd/example.png\")
I can't guarantee it will b the same for next yr NYJCians coz the College seems to b changing the timetabling algorithm, along with some other changes (I m not sure as we were all busy taking A lvls and did't really go back for the past mth

ODAC uh \"ē¬å±±ę¶ę°“\" would b a good description haha. They do rock-climbing, trekking, kayaking (all those outdoor sports u can think of bah), See them training running around the College quite often. They are nice and cheerful ppl.Hi!

Robotics heard is quite strong. Dey do programming and also coding if not wrong. They got a very nicely furnished room with air-con (idk when they got one), and they are very perfectionist. Remember they got a lot of honourrollers and they also got a strong relay team (they were 2nd or 3rd in 400m inter-CCA relay last yr). My batch their CCA leaders also the last to step down, even later than council. Basically we always say they were der Hwa Chong ppl in the wrong sch :rotflmao: ę°č“Øé½åå°å®.
Will be quite smooth sailing if u r the kind who is very detailed and always on the move. -
JC life is actually very personalised, depending on what u want urself to be.
U can choose to be very committed and be very busy with stuff or very slack and be a quiet one (if getting a good result is ur only priority, and is not thinking of taking a bond and go for scholarships). But if u like to have fun and like the tense feeling den feel free to join more CCAs and activities (can also try to score well in JC1 MYE and go for Galileo stuff). Will open up ur social circle and really make urself learn more in terms of lifeskills etc.
At the end of the day, unless ur results really CMI, that cert isnt really the only thing the society picks at. So IMO just open up and discover. Two years is really short. -

U might want to perhaps consider going for CCA leader or join the council when u join us this yr. Pardon me for sounding too judgemental but IMO u shd b quite capable as fm my experience only ppl with high standards on themselves will contend both NYRC and NYODAC at the same time. ATB man!
