Ho Peng is sister of Ho Ching

Ho Peng used to be Head of GP Dept in NJC, English-ed of course.

But Ho Peng is a very capable educator. Let's hope something feasible will come out from all these debates, and break new ground to get more effective teaching of the chinese language
If this is the case, Ho Peng should be the minister for education rather than Ng E.H. Or just because Ng has better credentials?

Okay lets see how he perform.

So far, the only minister that I first recognise is good is Khaw. Didn't know he was M'sian.

Well, if any changes they have to take 5-10 years to implement.

Anyone has a Chinese version of news to share? This report appears brief though the main points are covered. Status quo for PSLE weightage.

Thanks...so they are in agreement that the teaching needs beefing up.....not the exam system.
It would be great if they could implement some Chinese morale studies, eg. Confucius Studies into the syllabus.
Agree.

I would also like to see extensive teaching of chinese proverbs. Eg. through simple acting. This is very engaging activity esp for active children. And activity based learning reinforces better.

Likewise, the former VP of NJC, Ms Kwa, was Mrs LKY's sister

But the minister post is for the elected politician

they should seriously consider to introduce mandarin / chinese language from nursery class onwards, just like parents now do with english and montessori etc etc

they should have the chinese equivalent. i am sure the kids would love it

starting with words formation / components, etc

Minister Khaw is down to earth, humble. I like him very much too !

the CNA reported as taking 5 to 10 years to implement

the Zaobao said is to prepare the students for the changes envisaged in the coming 5 to 10 years

I think Zaobao is more accurate and makes more sense

:? thought most preschools already are teaching chinese. That's why there are so many S pass Chinese teachers in preschools and childcare.
