Hi Zalina & Minibug!
My son is going to P1 Yumin in 2018 too! Just got the letter today that he is being allocated to the Compassion class. What about you both?
Zalina - My guess is the class allocation is based on the test they gave the kids on the Orientation Day.
Minibug - Maybe you ask the school? I bought the one from the school - quite comfy and reasonably priced. -

My girl is joining in 2018 too. Is it necessary to get the black shoes from school or is it ok to buy other types from outside?
My children are from YMPS.
Black shoes you can get anything as long as fully black. -
KhimC:
I did check with the school, like what yap_susan said, as long as it's fully black with no visible logo. Although I did see a girl wearing black with a big white Nike logo during the holidays :imcool:Hi Zalina & Minibug!

My girl is in Perseverance class. My only expectation of her now is to learn to pronounce the word
Do you know what to pack for the first day of school?

Hello KhimC & Minibug…
Sorry for the late reply. When I checked previously…no one replied to me…so sad…now finally got replies. You have no idea how happy I am.
My girl is in Respect class. What to pack eh? I packed all ‘A’ workbooks plus exercise books, report book, storybook, small blue notebook and stationery.
I’m excited about tomorrow. What about you mummies? -
Zalina,
First day for primary one no teaching yet I supposed. My daughter is in P6 and older son already graduated.
It is a splendid school.I am sure you child will enjoy his/ her years there. -
Hi Yap_Susan,
Thanx for the info.
Hahaha actually this is my 4th child in Yumin. My elder boys have already graduated from Yumin. My third child is currently in p4 in yumin. That’s the usual routine that we did for my previous 3 boys. -

Zalina, my girl is in 1 Perseverance. Long name for the kids to write! Haha... She's a very shy kid and very fearful of new environment but she has enjoyed her first two daysZalina,

So far I hear only positive feedbacks from Yumin parents, which is very encouraging. I like how it has been stressed that academics is not everything. Perhaos though, this is the direction of most schools nowadays. Do you mind sharing specifically, the good aspects of the school? Does anything change with the change in principal? Because from what I know, this is Mdm Rhao's 4th year in the school and principals typically change every 5 years.
Looking forward to see my girl grow in this school! :rahrah: -
Hello Mini-Bug,
About the class name, the students will be taught to write as ‘PER’ for Perseverance. This was shared by my boy in P4.
Good to hear that your girl enjoyed her day in school. I’m confident your girl will outgrow her shyness soon. It’s just a matter of time. By then, dun be surprise by the positive changes in her.
My girl complaint on the first day of school that she felt very tired bcoz she has to walk around a lot. Though, overall she enjoyed herself very much in school. Hahaha typical bcoz primary school building is much bigger than kindergarten.
Personally, most schools are heading towards the direction of grooming the child as an all-rounder. What I like about Mdm Rao is that she is a hands-on person. Back then, my 2nd boy was at the risk of failing his PSLE. He did badly in his Prelims. The school initiated a meeting with us to work together to ‘pull’ him back. The meeting was chaired by Mdm Rao. The meeting was beneficial bcoz the sch truly was very proactive. The feedback and information shared was very personalised for my boy. My boy passed his PSLE and was promoted to NT stream in Ngee Ann Sec.
Talking about PSLE, heard from other parents that the school has performed better ever since Mdm Rao took over. More parents involvement too which I like bcoz it makes me more aware of what’s going on in the school.
Dun worry too much. We have chosen the school for our lil ones which means that we trust that Yumin is the school for our child to grow & bloom. Let them enjoy the process of learning and growing up. -
Sounds great! Happy that your boy passed, well done!
All the best to our LO!
