      llDaddy:
...Also, I heard Higher Chinese is only offered for P5 onwards.. So seems we can only seek external tuition if we want the kids to have a higher standard of Chinese.

The only difference between Higher Chinese syllabus and regular Chinese syllabus is that the must-know word list for the former contains more words. You can compare on the last page of the HCL and CL textbooks.

So it does not necessarily mean that taking HCL in school will lead to a child having a higher standard of Chinese. And conversely it does not necessarily mean that taking “merely CL” in school will lead to a child being lousy in the language.

External tuition is up to you but only recommended if your child is truly struggling with their schoolwork (regardless of what subject).

IMO the main key to gain a higher standard of Chinese is speaking and using the language often.

Now I feel better on the missing of HCL for P1~P4. 🙂

          Dear all,

May I ask, is there any school openings at ACSJ for parents to visit and take a look at the school campus? And usually is in which month and how to register?

          Thank you! :udawoman: :udaman:

No open house for both ACSJ and ACSP.

For registration date, do follow the MOE Pri 1 registration date.

BTW, which abbreviation is the more accurate for our school?

I always thought it should be ACSJ, vs its older brother ACSP. Until I noticed school email is acjs@moe.edu.sg, while its brother is “acps”

Both are fine I guess. The latter is used by “insiders”, while the former is used by people less familiar with the names. I don’t discriminate. Small matter 🆒

                    Hi Zac mum

Check with you, you mentioned ACS Junior and ACS Primary are affiliated to ACS Independent O levels. What is the special affiliate cut off point for the 2 feeder schools to enter ACSI? For outsiders it’s 250 thereabouts.

                    Asking for a friend. Thanks.

About 230 (or 235) in this range

                        Thank you My Pillow.

Does the affiliate cut off point change every year? As in some years 230 and can go up to 235 other years?
