nicnac:
Thanks for sharing.
typically, PSLE results will be released 1 week after the official school holiday, 2X November.laughingcat:
I know that the SEAB has released only the PSLE tentative date.
Understand that the released of PSLE result date is not out. But usually it will happens end of Nov.
May I know any experienced mummy out there can advise when is the safe period to travel in Dec?
Followed by 1 week registration of school exercise, end Nov.
Then school allocation will be out around, 20-21 Dec. Usually Thursday..Followed by Secondary School reporting on the next day.
So as soon as you have submitted your Sec School Selection, you are free to go. -

My latest post on use of subjunctive

Hey parents, need some help here. How to answer those science questions on experiments? Is there a format to answer "How do these results support the hypothesis?" Any tips for how to phrase the hypothesis to get all keywords? Thanks!!
-
Hopefully this is helpful. My DC used this technique in P5 last year and it did help him to score full marks in this type of question.

Hi all, to bring the discussion back to exam discussions and strategies :imanangel:
Just wanted to ask some experienced ones among the KSP: do you think it is okay for your kids to fail CA1?
Asking because it happens to be an exam that is always always right after the Chinese New Year break, and it is the first test that only covers 1.5 month++ of topics.
Would you be okay if your kid failed CA1 and learned from it, or would you rather they put in 100% effort to pass always? -
I’m a kaisuparent!
Fail CA1 in P3 is OK to use as learning point for child.
Fail fr P4 onwards is serious concern for various reasons :-
1. Lowers overall Year performance score unless like one of my kids stepped up & did >95% for rest of year & still made it to stay in high ability class (tho CA1 is low score not fail)
2. Reflect on record & when applying for DSA for sec sch might disadv the child’s opportunities
3. Lower Pri child less sensitive but for an upper Pri child might feel he/she lost out & harder (not impossible depending on attitude of child) to move back after realizing consistent practice / work is impt.
Only MHO. Pls feel free to share other perspectives. -
Not quite sure about the original question: Are you asking if it is ok for them to fail on purpose so that this can be used as a life lesson?
Unless there is some reason, eg. sick or other home/ personal issues… I’d certainly expect that effort be put in for assignments/ exams, whether it’s CA or SA.
If they put in the effort and still failed, then of course it would be ok - then it is up to parents/ teachers to find out what is the issue and then address it.
And since this topic is for 2018 PSLE… are you referring to P6 students? If so, then it’s not just 1.5 months of work but actually P5 + 1.5 months of P6 work. And if they do fail this, then it is a cause for concern from a readiness perspective - even if failing CA is better than the subsequent exams following. At least there is still time for recovery actions.
