Hi parents, I just checked with dd regarding the past year exam papers.

Apparently, the school will no longer be using mconline in 2018.
They were told that the exam papers will be uploaded in another new portal and the girls will be updated on how to log in to the new system.

          Hi parents,

Is it a "norm" to pay for every single notes from the subject teachers? The lesson has started, & so far DD’ class was told to pay for the photocopy notes for History, Science & Math (with Math the most). The FT & Seniors had actually suggested $10/student every month for the Class Fund, & the money contributed to the Treasury will be paid for the class’ notes. However, it seem the money collected was not enough as the Teacher kept asking for money for their notes. It has therefore created some unhappiness from the parents & students. As I understand the students will need to pay for some notes, but may I ask the parents/students here to advise usually how much is the class fund every month each child has to contribute in order to consider a "norm" practice at NYGH. Thank you.

According to my dd, it was $5 initially and collected between 1 to 2 months as needed (also $5). My dd does not have a lot of notes though. So maybe it depends on who is the teacher.

Shouldn't the parents and students be happy getting notes from their teachers ...

For assessment sheets, I think the teachers should have a budget to print these stuff.

Notes, nicely printed and bind will cost money. I find it quite normal to pay for notes. Last time uni days we also spend money to photocopy from library. If teachers don't give note, then using plain paper to take notes will also cost money, not to mention the ink used.

Surely we have to pay for printed notes. Especially for maths, i would say the more the merrier because there are many exercises for the girls to go through ...If the teacher stops giving out notes, then the parents and students will start to compare how come the neighbouring class is getting more notes than them and the complaint starts again ... It will keep the teachers very busy ...

Thank you parents for the feedback. Actually my question is how much is the class fund that your dd contribute every month? (not about whether to give note or not ^-^. Of course I fully understand we have to pay notes…lol)

$10 for each collection (not each month), depending how fast the fund runs out ...
For eg. for my Sec 3 girl, last week alone already used up $13 ...

One just need to count the number of pages, then add the binding cost. roughly $0.03 per page. Maths alone already half inch thick double sided, roughly $8 maybe?

I will be more concerned if the school demands $100 for prom night or some other superfluous stuff. Notes? Go ahead so long as is printed at market rate.
